La Grange Board Preparing for Chance of Medical Marijuana Shop

The Board took steps towards regulating the placement and operation of such a distribution center if Illinois House Bill 30 comes to pass.

The La Grange Board of Trustees approved a resolution Monday that would revise the Village zoning code to allow and regulate the placement and operation of a medical-marijuana center, The Doings La Grange reports

According to the paper, House Bill 30, currently moving forward in Springfield, would create a mandatory center in each state senate district—La Grange has three—though bar them from being within 2,500 feet of a school, like most of the La Grange downtown.

“This is not an opt-out program,” the paper quoted Trustee Bill Holder saying. “If this bill gets passed, there would be one center per district, so we should definitely be out in front of this.”

The board also finalized a program for electrical-aggregation, including an option for residents to pay slightly extra for all-renewable energy, the paper reported.
