Entrepreneurs Help Downtown La Grange Shake off the Recession Blues

New restaurants and boutiques still find the central business district an attractive place for business, as they help boost the occupancy rate to 92 percent.

Finding a single retail tenant to occupy the darkened hulk of the now-closed Borders bookstore in downtown La Grange may prove to be difficult, says Pat Benjamin, the village's director of community development.

But in this latest installment of Action La Grange!, Benjamin shares some good news about the downtown commercial rental market, providing a rundown on seven new businesses who signed leases (some are already open for business) to occupy seven vacant storefronts, including a couple that have sat empty for years.
