Citizens Council of La Grange to Host Public Safety Meeting

The Citizens Council of La Grange will be hosting a meeting on public safety Wednesday night. Police Chief Michael Holub and Trustee Bill Holder will be at the meeting to answer questions and talk about village plans.

The Citizens Council of La Grange will host a meeting on public safety Wednesday, Oct. 12 in the Village Hall Auditorium. The council will be addressing a variety of village safety issues including information about in La Grange as well as pedestrian safety.

"Personally, I know a lot of people that have been talking about a variety of safety issues in La Grange," Council Chair David Schwartz said. He added that public safety is generally an issue at election time, and now is a good opportunity to residents to see what the village is focused on and what they have planned.

The council meeting will be held at beginning at 7:30 p.m. Police Chief Michael Holub and Village Trustee Bill Holder will be in attendance to speak on safety issues in the village and address resident's questions. All council meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

Schwartz said a particular focus at the meeting will be 47th Street, which has been an important public safety issue in La Grange in the last few years. As recently as earlier this summer as she crossed the street. According to Schwartz, the meeting will be an opportunity for residents to get information about the village's plans regarding safety on 47th Street.

"Being such a pedestrian community, with kids walking to school in the area, we feel it's an issue in the village," Schwartz said.
