La Grange Park police report dip in criminal incidents in 2013 from 2012, but an increase in traffic enforcement and accident reports.

La Grange Park police saw a dip in year-over-year crime from 2012 to 2013, with a total of 279 criminal incidents in 2013, down 21 percent from 338 in 2012, police said Monday.

La Grange Park Police Chief Dan McCollum wrote in an email that crimes against property declined more than 30 percent in 2013, and criminal damage incidents were down about 50 percent.

While criminal activity was down, accident reports and traffic-related incidents increased in 2013.

Accident reports were up about nine percent with 290 reports in 2013, compared to 267 in 2012, according to McCollum. None of the accidents were fatal.
