Yard Vandalized With Condiments; Garage Fire, Reckless Driving Reported

Here are items from the La Grange police blotter.

Vandalism was reported at about 9:17 p.m. Feb. 18 in the 900 block of south Sixth Avenue where the homeowner said packets of ketchup and hot sauce were all over his front yard, sidewalk and stairs. He said this happened before. 

An unattached garage with two vehicles inside in the 700 block of south Madison Avenue was reported on fire at about 12:42 p.m. Feb. 20. Fire departments from Riverside, McCook, Brookfield and Pleasantview assisted La Grange. No more information was available.  

Ceramic insulators were blown off a utility pole in the 0-100 block of north Ashland Avenue and breakers were blown at about 11:45 a.m. Feb. 20, La Grange police said. ComEd was notified.

The La Grange Fire Department provided mutual aid for a roof fire at 5501 S. LaGrange Road in Countryside at about 10:52 p.m. Feb. 20; for smoke coming from the roof of a building in the 4100 block of Johnson in Western Springs at about 3:53 p.m. Feb. 20; for a house fire in the 4000 block of Konrad in Lyons at about 9:29 a.m. Feb. 20; for smoke in a building in the 1400 block of Deerpath in La Grange Park at about 4:05 p.m. Feb. 19; and for smoke coming from a building in the 4000 block of Wolf Road in Western Springs at about 8:57 p.m. Feb. 19.

An ambulance was sent for a 16-year-old La Grange boy after a minivan hit two cars parked in the 700 block of Hillgrove at about 4:07 p.m. Feb. 19. The boy refused medical transportation. Two vehicles were towed. No more information was available.

Two vehicles collided at about 4:33 p.m. Feb. 18 at Ogden Avenue and LaGrange Road but La Grange police said only one party was there to report it.

A cell phone caller told La Grange police that a gray Toyota Camry was driving recklessly while going south on LaGrange Road from 31st Street at about 7:38 p.m. Feb. 18. The car was last seen at Plainfield Road and the investigation was turned over to Countryside police.

A Hinsdale man told La Grange police at about 7:46 p.m. Feb. 20 that another vehicle struck his car and fled. The car was parked at LaGrange Road and Burlington Avenue. The incident occurred about 30 minutes before the man called police.

A silver sport-utility vehicle backed into another vehicle parked at 11 W. Calendar Ave. at about 7:45 p.m. Feb. 18 and took off, La Grange police said.
