Woman Finds 8-Inch Steak Knife Outside Apartment Building

Man with switchblade knife reported in hospital emergency room.

An eight-inch Cozzini, black-handled steak knife that a resident of the 300 block of west Burlington Avenue found at the east side of the apartment building was turned over to La Grange police at about 3:37 p.m. Feb. 24 and will be destroyed.

A 72-year-old Justice man turned over to La Grange police a switchblade knife he had while allegedly making threats at about 3:55 p.m. Feb. 23 in the emergency room of Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 Willow Springs Road, against the trailer park where he lives.  The matter was turned over to Cook County sheriff’s police since they have jurisdiction over the area where the man lives.

La Grange police sent additional officers at about 12:41 a.m. Feb. 24 to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 S. Willow Springs Road, where an unruly person was reported in the emergency room. Assistance was given without incident, police said.

A Westchester woman reported Feb. 23 her mother’s ring has been missing since Feb. 14 while she has been at Lexington Health Care, 4735 S. Gilbert Ave., and may have been stolen or misplaced. Its value was not given.

A 51-year-old La Grange man, concerned about identity theft, reported Feb. 23 that his laptop computer was stolen Feb. 21 in St. Charles and has personal information on it about his family.  No information had been used as of Feb. 23, he said.

Investigating a call of an Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad train stopped near Bluff and Elm avenues at about 7:53 p.m. Feb. 24 and a man with a flashlight looking between and possibly inside train cars, La Grange police learned from the railroad that the man was an employee, looking for line trouble, which is why the train stopped.  Railroad officials said they will have the train moving as soon as the problem is solved.

Gerald N. Kulikowski, 54, of Melrose Park was ticketed for driving with a suspended or revoked license when La Grange police stopped his car at Burlington Avenue and LaGrange Road at about 2:03 a.m. Feb. 25.

Lester Stewart, 53, of Addison was ticketed for misdemeanor driving with a suspended or revoked license and another unidentified traffic violation when his car was stopped by La Grange police at about 12:33 a.m. Feb. 25 at LaGrange Road and Ogden Avenue.
