Western Springs Police Carry Torch for Special Olympics

Western Springs police officers will be carrying the Special Olympics' Torch on its 50,000 mile journey through town this Sunday, June 8.

Members of the Western Springs Police Department  will be joining 80,000 law enforcement officers in 50 states and 32 countries in carrying the Special Olympics flame over 50,000 miles.

The Western Springs leg of the Torch Run begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, from Tower Green in the 900 block of Hillgrove Avenue.

Police are asking residents to “adopt a cop” by a making a donation to the Special Olympics Torch Run. This is the only charitable event and time during the year when Western Springs police solicit donations from the public.

All donations go directly to support Special Olympics Illinois’ athletic  programs. For more information about Western Springs officers’ participation in the Torch Run, contact Officer Terry Madler or Office Ken Lena at 708- 246-8550.
