Western Springs police reports, Jan. 7-15.

MONDAY, JAN. 14

Illegal Driver I

Eugene F. Gurga, 67, of the 5600 block of Forest Hill, Clarendon Hills, was stopped at the corner of 55th Street and Interstate 294 at 10:26 p.m. for driving with a suspended registration plate and was charged with driving with a revoked license, police said.

Failed Burglary on Commonwealth

Someone attempted to break into a home on the 4900 block of Commonwealth Avenue sometime between 10:15 a.m. and 11 a.m., likely intending to burglarize it, police said. Prying damage was done to both the front and rear entry doors, but the suspect didn't get into the home.

Drinking Teens Crash into Tree

A 16-year-old boy driving a car with a 15-year-old boy boy as passenger crashed into a parkway tree at the corner of 48th Street and Grand Avenue at 11:50 p.m., police said. Both left the scene, but police located the two Western Spring boys and issued them citations for consumption of alcohol by minors. The 16-year-old driver was also cited for leaving the scene of a property damage accident and for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 9

Trailer Hits Traffic Signal

A commercial trailer truck hit a traffic signal at the corner of Ogden and Gilbert avenues at approximately 7 p.m., police said. The driver left the scene without making a report. The value of the damage to the property was not estimated.

Illegal Driver II

David R. Blanco, 43, of the 5800 block of West Grace Street, Chicago, was stopped at the corner of Burlington and Grand avenues at 4:39 p.m. for disobeying a railroad signal and was charged wtih driving without a valid license, police said.

MONDAY, JAN. 7

Illegal Driver III

Mauro Rodriguez, 35, of the 300 block of Hawthorne Circle, Mt. Prospect, was stopped for driving with an improper registration display at the corner of Ogden and Hampton avenues at 3:23 p.m. and was charged with driving without a valid license, police said.

Illegal Driver IV

Josue Freytes, 32, of the 5800 block of West Cermak Road, Cicero, was stopped for speeding at the corner of Howard and Ogden avenues at 9:05 a.m. and was charged with driving with a suspended license, police said.
