The Village of La Grange Wednesday sent out a community alert, warning residents of residential burglaries that have been reported recently in the area over the last three weeks.
The offenders will typically knock on a door to verify that no one is at home prior to forcing entry, according to the alert.
"Although La Grange has not experienced a similar incident, we want our residents to be informed and vigilant. It is imperative that if you should see anything 'suspicious' in your neighborhood, that you call 9-1-1 immediately. Supply the best description possible to the 9-1-1 operator but do not attempt to confront the suspicious persons, or place yourselves in harm’s way," the alert reads.
A task force of municipal officers has been activated and is actively investigating these incidents.
Residents with questions can contact the La Grange Police Department at (708) 579-2333 (press zero for dispatch).
