Vandalism Reported at Seventh Avenue, Park Junior High Schools

Here is a list of events reported in the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters.

A picnic table near the playground of Seventh Avenue School, 701 S. Seventh Ave., was reported Aug. 11 broken, possibly by youths using it as a ramp for skateboarding, according to La Grange police.

Windows on the north side of Park Junior High, 335 N. Park Rd., were found broken Aug. 10, according to La Grange Park police.

Cars burglarized

Unidentified items were taken out of a car parked on the 800 block of south Madison Avenue and a second vehicle was gone through, police found out Aug. 10.

A resident living near 41st Street and Park Road reported a man was going door to door at about 1:48 p.m. Aug. 10 saying he wanted to be a future leader of the community. He was last seen walking west on 41st from Park. La Grange police could not locate him.

Two bikes stolen, one found

A La Grange man reported his bicycle worth $200 to $400 was stolen between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Aug. 10 at Burlington Avenue and LaGrange Road. Taken was a men’s Giant mountain bike, described as green with a white stripe.

A brand new bicycle worth $120 was reported stolen between 9 p.m. Aug. 9 and 8 a.m. Aug. 10 out of a yard in the 100 block of north Madison Avenue. Missing was a 21-speed green Magna mountain bike with black and yellow colors.

La Grange police were called at about 9:55 a.m. Aug. 11 about a bicycle lock hanging on the bike rack at the LaGrange Road Metra train depot, 25 W. Burlington Ave., with no bike attached. Police said they had received no calls yet that day of a bike being stolen there.

A girl’s Magna bicycle was found in the middle of the street at 50th Street and Eighth Avenue at about 10:11 p.m. Ag. 11, police said.

Steak knife found

An employee of La Grange Public Works found a steak knife lying by a tree along the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks at Ashland and Burlington avenues at about 8:31 a.m. Aug. 10. A police officer disposed of the knife.

Wallet found

A yellow vinyl wallet with receipts and less than $20 in cash was found at Hillgrove and Dover avenues and turned in to La Grange police at about 2:26 p.m. Aug. 10.
