UPDATE: All Three Passengers in Car That Hit Tree Are Released From Hospital

Driver gets 6 tickets, including 2 for DUI.

All three occupants of a car that crashed into a tree early in the morning of April 8 on the 800 block of north LaGrange Road have been released from Loyola Hospital in Maywood, according to La Grange Park police.

The driver, Armando Zuniga, 25, of Berwyn was released April 12 and on April 13 received six traffic tickets, including two citations for driving under the influence of liquor, driving too fast for conditions, driving on the sidewalk, not wearing a seat belt and no proof of insurance, according to police Cmdr. Ed Rompa.  Zuniga’s blood-alcohol was .142, he said, with .08 being the legal limit.

The other two passengers in the car, Juan Ruiz, 29, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, and Gabriel Castellano, 25, in the back seat, were released on April 9, he said. Both live in Berwyn.

Police were called at about 12:57 a.m. April 8 for a southbound car going over the curb and hitting a tree at 806 N. LaGrange Road. The cause still is pending investigation, police said.

About the car missing the house,  Rompa said, “It was a saving grace the tree was there.”
