Blotter: Two Report Wallets Are Stolen and More

The following items are from Patch's reporting on the La Grange police blotter.

Two Wallets Stolen

A man reported someone went into his car, parked on the 400 block of south La Grange Road, between 5 a.m. and noon on April 15 and stole his girlfriend’s wallet. The car’s sunroof was open, police said.

A La Grange man reported April 13 that his wallet was stolen at a party, possibly in Brookfield, and someone used his debit card.

Jewelry Missing

The theft of jewelry worth more than $500 was reported April 14 by a resident of the 0-100 block of Sawyer Avenue The resident told police she noticed two days earlier that a lot of her jewelry was missing. La Grange police are investigating.

Bicycles Stolen at Train Station

A La Grange woman reported to police that she left her silver Trek mountain bike unlocked at the Stone Avenue train station, 625 Burlington Ave., on the morning of April 12 and when she returned later, it was missing.

An Aqua Retro purple, 20-inch bicycle was stolen April 12 from the Stone Avenue train station, 625 Burlington Ave., where its owner, a La Grange man, had left it locked up.

Streets Flooded

A resident of the 0-100 block of Malden Avenue reported at 8:55 a.m. on April 15 that the street was flooded in front of his home. Public Works was notified and said the drains appear clear but the street was still flooded.

La Grange Public Works responded at 12:35 a.m. April 15 to a report of flooding at the Ogden Avenue bridge near Burlington Avenue and cleared the sewer.

Branch Hits Car

A large tree branch fell on a car parked on the 100 block of Dover Avenue, La Grange police learned at about 6:43 p.m. April 15.

Identity Used for Tax Return

A La Grange man reported  April 11 that he filed his 2011 taxes through Turbo Tax and was told by the Internal Revenue Service that his Social Security number had been used on a different return. He will do a credit check to see if there was any other misuse.

Girl Transported From Church

A 12-year-old girl who passed out at St. Cletus Church, 600 W. 55th St., was taken  by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at about 10:14 a.m. April 15.

Two Report Vandalism

A resident of the 1100 block of south Stone Avenue reported April 14 that his house was egged for the fifth time and he has been getting prank telephone calls. He plans to ask his son, who is in high school, if he knows who is doing this.

A man living on the 800 block of Seventh Avenue told La Grange police at about 3:29 p.m. April 13 that he was holding three pupils from Seventh Avenue School who threw rocks at his car and all over the grass. The three boys were to be turned over to their parents, who would be told what their children had done.

Looking for Rewards Among Recycling

A man and woman were going through recycling bins on the 800 block of south Madison Avenue at about 11:34 a.m. April 12 and told La Grange police they were looking for Coke Rewards. Police told the couple that village ordinances prohibit taking items out of recycling bins and they said they would stop.

Driver Hits Car, Street Sign

An 86-year-old La Grange man was ticketed after La Grange police said his 2000 Buick Century, going south on Spring Avenue at about 8:46 p.m. April 5, did not halt for a stop sign and hit a La Grange woman’s 2002 Chevrolet Ventura that was eastbound on Bell Avenue. His car then continued on and hit a street sign on the southeast corner, police said. The driver was ticketed for disobeying a stop sign and damage to village property, according to police.
