Police Chase Youths Suspected in Vehicle Burglary: La Grange Police Blotter

MONDAY, DEC. 24

Santa Snatched

Someone stole a cardboard Santa head off the front lawn of a home in the 400 block of South Brainard Avenue, La Grange police learned.

Thieving Drunk Banned

A drunk man tried to steal alcohol at the 7-Eleven store, 6 E. 47th St., but was stopped before reaching the door. He was banned from the store, police said.

School Graffitied

Black spray paint and crayon were placed on the north side of Ogden Avenue School, 501 W. Ogden Ave., police said.

Car Burglary Reported

La Grange Park police reported a burglary to a motor vehicle in the 600 block of North Kensington Avenue at about 6:07 a.m. Two people were reported running on Brainard. La Grange police picked up two people. 

“We are working with other the local departments and have identified a few juveniles that we believe could be involved," La Grange Park Police Cmdr. Ed Rompa said Wednesday, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

THURSDAY, DEC. 20

Complaining Cab Driver Missing

A  cab driver at Hillgrove Avenue and La Grange Road complained at about 11:27 p.m. that a customer refused to pay the fare. La Grange police went to the La Grange Road and Stone Avenue train stations but did not find a cab.

Man Abandons Car

A man pulled into a parking lot in the 700 block of east 47th Street at about 11 a.m., told someone at the business that he would be right back and left. When he did not return, the business called La Grange police. The car was registered to a Maywood man and police in that town will try to contact him on the whereabouts of the car.

Graffiti in Parking Garage

A red Sharpie pen was used to draw graffiti in the lobby of the parking garage, 60 S. Sixth Ave.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 19

ER ‘Too Slow’

A 46-year-old Willow Springs man called 911 at about 3:14 a.m., saying he needed an ambulance because service was not fast enough in the emergency room of Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 Willow Springs Road. Police the man had refused medical treatment and he hung up. The man called again and requested an ambulance to Christ Advocate Hospital, saying he needed pain medication for cuts to his hand or finger. Police said they found a friend was going to get him and told him to stop calling 911 for alternate transportation.  

Patients Report Losses

Security at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital reported a couple thefts from patient rooms with losses totaling more than $500.

Break-in Attempt Reported

A woman living in the first block of East Harris Avenue reported at about 1:47 a.m. that someone tried to break into her apartment.

Stolen iPhone Sold on Craigslist

A La Grange man who bought an iPhone on Craigslist for $550 told La Grange police he found out it had been stolen when he went to the AT&T store to transfer it over.
