Two Men Charged in 2005 Countryside Murder of Woman

Detectives believe that the 23-year-old woman was murdered by her estranged husband and another man in Countryside; her body was later found in Robbins.

Two men are being held without bond in connection with the slaying of a 23-year-old Cicero woman who who was strangled, suffocated and left inside of a truck of a car in the summer of 2005, the Cook County Sheriff's Office announced on Saturday.

The body of Nayely Murry was found in the trunk of a Dodge Intrepid in Robbins two days after Nayely’s family reported her missing in August 2005. Detectives believed she was killed in Countryside before her body was placed in the trunk and left in Robbins.

James Murry, 35, the estranged husband of the victim, Nayely Murry, and a friend, Travon McDonald, 29, were charged with murder, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Cook County law enforcement and Cicero police arrested Murry at his home in Toledo, OH. He waived extradition. Murry appeared in bond court late last week.

McDonald was arrested Dec. 20 after he was paroled from Logan Correctional Facility in Lincoln, IL, where he served time for failing to report an accident/death, possession of a controlled substance and aggravated battery. He made his initial court appearance earlier this month, sheriff's police said.

This past October, the Sheriff’s Cold Case unit was contacted by Cicero Police to assist in reviewing evidence and discussing new technologies to further the case. Assistance also came from the Illinois State Police Department and the Toledo Police Department, the CCSO said in a release.

Sheriff’s Police Detectives assisted Cicero investigators with re-interviewing those familiar with the case and with re-analyzing phone data.
