Three Report Thefts to La Grange Police

Here is a list of reports from the La Grange police blotter.

A 59-year-old homeless man with a T-shirt around his face was seen at about 1:47 a.m. July 11 picking coins out of the fountain near the Village Hall, 53 S. LaGrange Road. The man told a La Grange police officer that he just wanted to leave and was sent on his way.

A credit card belonging to an employee of Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital was stolen at work and used to make purchases, La Grange police learned at about 12:12 p.m. July 10.

Unidentified items were stolen out of a car parked on the 500 block of south Eighth Avenue, police learned at about 8:19 a.m. July 9.

Battery charge

A 24-year-old Bellwood man, Marcus Odell, was charged with battery after an incident at Hillgrove and Madison avenues at about 7:24 p.m. July 9, according to La Grange police. A man, later identified as the suspect, wearing all black fled the scene and was found at Harris and Hillgrove avenues, police said. The victim, a 37-year-old Brookfield man, refused treatment by the Fire Department.

Missing attacker, victim

A man wearing a gray hoodie and white T-shirt hit someone at Washington and Lincoln avenues at about 11:40 p.m. July 7 and last was seen in an alley behind the 100 block of Washington Avenue. Brookfield and La Grange were looking for the man. The victim also left, police said.

Rocking chair not stolen

An artist who designed a rocking chair in the La Grange Rocks program told La Grange police at about 9:12 p.m. July 7 that she thought her chair that had been near LaGrange Road and Burlington Avenue had been stolen. The chair was found the next day at The Runner’s Sole on LaGrange Road.

Water main breaks

A water main break on the 800 block of Waiola Avenue was reported to Public Works at about 10:44 a.m. July 9, according to La Grange police..

Three bikes stolen

A La Grange Park resident told La Grange police on July 10 that his bicycle was stolen July 8 at the Stone Avenue train depot, 625 W. Burlington Ave., of the Metra commuter line. It was described as a men’s blue/silver/black Schwinn bike that has seven gears and is 4 years old.    

A 36-year-old La Grange Park man reported he left his bicycle July 8 at the LaGrange Road train station, 25 W. Burlington Ave., of the Metra line and when he drove by July 10, it was missing. Stolen was a men’s gray Schwinn mountain bike.  

A men’s green Schwinn hybrid bike was reported stolen at the Stone Avenue train depot at about 11:55 a.m. July 7.
