Third Bicycle Theft at Stone Avenue Bike Rack Irks La Grange Woman

The following items are from Patch's reporting on the La Grange police blotter.

A La Grange woman who had a bicycle was stolen for a third time from a bike rack at the Stone Avenue train depot, 635 Burlington Ave.,  asked La Grange police to conduct a sting and said she will complain to Village Hall.

Reported May 23 as stolen was a men’s silver 26-inch mountain bike worth $200.

A man reported medications were stolen out of his vehicle while it was parked at the BP Amoco, 100 N. LaGrange Road, at about 8:35 a.m. May 22.

Homeless Man Has Missing Phone

A woman told La Grange police she traced her cell phone by global positioning system to 34 N.  LaGrange Road  at about 4:34 p.m. May 22. Police found a 56-year-old homeless man at LaGrange Road and Burlington Avenue  had the phone. The woman said she was satisfied to get it back and did not want to press charges. A police officer also confiscated prescription drugs from the man. Police did not say whether the drugs were his or could have been those stolen out of a car at the nearby gas station.

Two Men Cause Suspicions

A man came to the door of a home on the 100 block of Malden Avenue at about 7:04 p.m. May 22, told a resident he is an appraiser and needs to walk around the premises. The man was 6 feet tall, weighed 200 pounds and wore a black shirt, gray shorts and gym shoes. After being turned down, he last was seen walking north on Malden.

A man on the 100 block of east Cossitt Avenue said he got a phone call at about 3:54 p.m. May 23 from someone claiming to be a delivery man, asking him to open the door. Another resident went to the door to check and said nobody was there.
