Tried for Generator, But They Got Him Later

ELMHURST, July 11—Charles D. Bradley, 24, 535 N. Michigan, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with attempted theft after he reportedly attempted to steal a generator that was at the rear of a home on the 500 block of West Third Street at 11:04 p.m. He fled the area in a silver Mercury and was later apprehended in Addison. He was released on I-bond on the attempted theft charges, then turned over to Addison police for possible burglary charges, police said.

LA GRANGE, July 11—A resident of the 0-100 block of Dover Avenue reported at about 11:27 p.m. that someone put a hot dog in a bun with mustard at the front door and poured mustard on the door. The resident removed the hot dog and will clean up the mustard. No permanent damage was reported.

ST. CHARLES, July 9—Someone stole a concrete fox statue from the front patio in the 100 block of South 17th Street. According to the police report, the fox statue was sitting next to a concrete rabbit on the patio. It had been a gift giving to the owner nearly 30 years ago. Between the evening of July 8 and the morning of July 9, “someone took the fox but left the rabbit,” the report states.

Shopping Cart Rammer, a Credit Card Scammer

ELMHURST, July 8—A woman told police she was in the checkout line at Jewel, 944 S. York St., at 4:27 p.m. when the woman behind her began ramming her with her shopping cart. In her hurry to finish her transaction, the victim left her wallet behind. Surveillance video shows the woman who was in the line behind her placing a bag over the wallet, completing her transaction and taking the wallet. The thief is described as about 30, wearing workout-type clothing. Credit cards inside the wallet were used to make purchases of more than $200 at Kohl’s, more than $180 at Kmart and $50 at Shell.

WHEATON, July 7—Someone left a hair salon in Danada Square West without paying for a $20 shampoo and blow drying service around 5 p.m.

Rocker is a Roller

LA GRANGE, July 7—An artist who designed a rocking chair in the La Grange Rocks program told police at about 9:12 p.m. that she thought her chair, that had been near LaGrange Road and Burlington Avenue, had been stolen. However, the chair was found the next day at The Runner’s Sole on LaGrange Road.

Landing Was Rough When She Dropped Off Stuff

ELMHURST, July 6—A man told police his soon-to-be ex-wife dropped off his belongings unexpectedly at his place of work at 5:54 p.m.  She left the items on top of his vehicle. He told police that caused $1,000 in damage. The man said the divorce has been ongoing for a year and this is not the first time she has harassed him.

WHEATON, July 6—A white man of medium build wearing blue medical scrubs dumped garbage on a property in the 300 block of West Street around 1 p.m.
