WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19

The Return of “Shadow,” Maybe

A “suspicious person” wearing all black and a black backpack was reported in the garage at La Grange Pointe at 9:30 p.m. Police suggested that it might be someone called “Shadow” who had been seen there before, but the person was gone when police arrived.

Son Took the TV?

A resident of the 100 block of Cossitt Avenue reported at 9:08 p.m. that her television was stolen from her home after she left the patio door open. She said she believed her son and his girlfriend took the TV.

Get Away from My Convertible

Police received a complaint from the first block of East Avenue at 5:43 p.m. that three men were standing around looking down into an open convertible car. The complainant said he chased the men off to the corner of Calendar Avenue and East Avenue. The men were reported as one tall with a blue shirt, one wearing red shorts with a shaved head and one wearing a white and black shirt with dreadlocks.

High School Girl Harassed

A 16-year-old Western Springs girl reported that she was walking west on Cossitt Avenue near the Lyons Township West Field at 1:22 p.m. when she was harassed by a man who tried to lure her into his car, driving around the block three times and calling out, “hey, baby.” The girl ignored the man and he eventually left north on Gilbert Avenue towards Ogden without ever exiting his car. The man was described as being in his late 20s, with a shaved head and a purple dress shirt and tie.

Break-In Attempt? No, Just a Rock

A resident on the 300 block of Bluff reported to police at 12:10 p.m. that someone tried to pry open her window. Police said that it did not appear that anyone attempted to break in, only that a rock hit the window. The residents were shown how to lock their windows.

TUESDAY,  SEPT. 18

Yelling Kids in Downtown

Police received a report of eight or nine juveniles yelling at passers-by on the first block of La Grange Road at 9:15 p.m. Police sent the kids on their way.

Check Out This Butt on my Cell

Police received a report that at 4:30 p.m, a man walked into a restaurant on the first block of Hillgrove Avenue and began talking to a woman, then pulled out his cell phone and showed her “an explicit picture … of a butt.” The man was described as homeless and wearing a purple shirt. Police advised that the complainant call 911 if the man returns.

Those Crazy Drivers

A female caller reported at 10:08 a.m. that unknown drivers have been “trying to run her off the road every day,” especially a particular black Plymouth Breeze. The caller did not ask to speak with officers. 

Possum in the Road

Police received a report of an injured or sick opossum inn the roadway at the corner of 50th Street and La Grange Road at 10:06 a.m. Parents thought the animal might be a safety issue for kids going to school. The opossum was removed by a wildlife control company.

MONDAY,  SEPT. 17

Obscene Yelling Outside House

A resident of the first block of Ashland Avenue called at 9:49 p.m. to report that for the last three nights an unknown woman has been screaming profanities and yelling in general outside the house between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. 

McDonald’s Cashier Too Smart for Scam

A complainant from the McDonald's at 100 La Grange Road reported at 1:18 p.m. that a subject going through the McDonald’s drive-thru ordered a sandwich, and then tried to pull a “quick-change scam.” The cashier was not fooled and told the subject he was calling police, after which the man left.

Panhandler Touching People

An “older” man in a baseball cap and black-and-white shirt was reported at 11:54 a.m. outside of Walgreens to be panhandling and “touching people on the shoulder.” The man was gone when police arrived.
