Teen Charged with Sex Abuse; $1,500 Hit-and-Run: La Grange Police Blotter

La Grange police reports, Jan. 9-16.

MONDAY, JAN. 14

$1500 Hit-and-Run

A resident of the 700 block of 8th Avenue reported at 5:03 p.m. that a car parked on the parkway had been hit sometime that day by someone who did not leave a report. The damage to the front left side of the vehicle was estimated at more than $1,500.

Warrant Arrest

Bridgeview Courthouse reported that they were holding Victor Cordova, 43, address not given, on a La Grange Police Department warrant for driving with a suspended license.

Villa Venice Graffiti

Miscellaneous graffiti was reported on garages on the 900 block of 8th Avenue  (Villa Venice) at around 9 a.m. The nature of the graffiti was unclear.

Cell Phone Stolen from Bag

A victim at the La Grange Park District building on the 500 block of East Avenue reported at 3:11 p.m. that a cell phone was stolen from an unlocked bag in the gym. The phone’s value was estimated at $200.

SATURDAY, JAN. 12

Purse Also Stolen from Bag

An employee at Consign and Redesign, 35 S. La Grange Rd., reported at 4:38 p.m. that her wallet had been stolen from inside her purse at work. Charges  at Wal-Mart were made on her credit card; the charges were reversible and no financial loss was suffered.

FRIDAY, JAN. 11

Threatening Calls

A resident reported at 9:36 a.m. receiving a series of threatening calls on his phone. Police entered it as a matter of record.

THURSDAY, JAN. 10

Stolen Car Not Actually Stolen

Police located a car at 8:44 p.m. on the 0-100 block of South La Grange Road that had been reported as stolen to the Chicago Police Department. The owner, a Chicago woman, told police that the vehicle had been previously reported stolen after being relocated due to snow without her knowledge, and the stolen-vehicle report was never cancelled.

Kids Cited for Tobacco

A 17-year-old girl from La Grange and two 16-year-old boys, town unknown, were issued local ordinance citations for underage possession of tobacco after being located in Elm Park at 3:04 p.m., police said.

Resident Turns Self In

Dyana Bays, 27, of the 200 block of Sawyer Avenue, voluntarily turned herself in at the La Grange Police Department at 10:43 a.m. on an outstanding So. Cook County warrant for resisting a peace officer, police said.

Another Hit-and-Run

A delayed hit-and-run was reported at 10:24 a.m. from the 6th Avenue parking garage. The damage to the left rear end of the vehicle was reported at between $500 and $1,500.

WEDNESDAY, JAN 9

Teen Charged with Sex Abuse

Diquane Sheard, 18, of the 4700 block of South Ellis Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at about 2 p.m. and charged with misdemeanor criminal sexual abuse for incidents that occurred in October of 2012 in La Grange, police said. Police did not release any additional information, citing victim privacy.
