Take Mine and I'll Take Yours

Here is a list of items taken from the La Gtange/La Grange Park police blotter.

Bikes switched

La Grange police have recovered a mint green Diamond Back Joker BMX bike, worth $250, that was stolen at about 5:52 p.m. Sept. 7 on the 800 block of south Madison Avenue and another bicycle left in its place. A men’s purple saddleback Shasta mountain bike was recovered at that house.

Patrick Fulla, police investigator, said it is becoming more common for someone riding a bicycle to switch it for another in better condition. He recommends locking up a bike or putting it in a secure area.

A locked bicycle was taken from the bike rack at the La Grange Park Public Library, 555 N. LaGrange Road,  and replaced with a different bicycle at about 3:30  p.m. Sept. 2. Missing is a 20-inch, white and red “Next jump off” bike worth less than $500. It was last seen in the area of Homestead Apartments.

iPad Stolen

An iPad was stolen out of a vehicle parked on the 600 block of Stone Avenue, La Grange police learned  at about 9:45 a.m. Sept. 7.

Home doors damaged

Someone apparently tried to break into a home on the 0-100 block of north Spring Avenue, it was reported at about 4:26 p.m. Sept. 6. A former tenant told police the lock was busted, but nothing was inside.

Someone damaged a door jamb to a building on the 1500 block of east 31st St within the past week, La Grange Park police learned Sept. 3.

Money illegally withdrawn

La Grange Park police received a report Aug. 26 of someone making withdrawals from two accounts at MB Financial Bank, 401 N. La Grange Road, using fraudulent identification.

New bike missing

A La Grange resident reported Sept. 6 that her son’s brand new bicycle was stolen at St. Francis Xavier School. Missing was a boy’s green BMX-type Mongoose bike.

Sign stolen

A resident of the 900 block of south Seventh Ave., reported Sept. 6 that a “Keep Off the Grass” sign was stolen off his fence.

Wallet missing

A La Grange woman said Sept. 6 that she lost her pink wallet containing  credit cards, her driver’s license and insurance cards.
