All that Glitters Isn't Gold but They'll Still Take It, New or Old

LA GRANGE, Aug. 22—La Grange police said someone may have mistaken an older red Toro lawn mower as trash when it was taken at about 11:45 a.m. from between two trash containers on the 1300 block of west Cossitt Avenue after it was left there for a few minutes  by the building custodian.

ELMHURST, Aug. 18—A man backed a black Dodge pickup truck to a dumpster in a lot at Early Time Home Solutions, 960 Industrial Drive at 6 p.m. and began to load the truck with recyclable aluminum. Employees told the man the aluminum belonged to the company and to put it back. The man reportedly didn't understand and drove away with the aluminum. The employees didn't report the incident until 7:57 a.m. Aug. 19 because they said they wanted to talk to their boss first. A license plate was obtained. Police contacted residents at the address to which the vehicle was registered, but there was no one there by that name. Police will examine surveillance video. The metal thief was described as 35, about 5-foot-9-inches, 160 pounds, wearing a blue soccer jersey and tan shorts.

WHEATON, Aug. 9—A resident of the 1100 block of Bunker Hill Court told police he recently installed a new dryer. He left the old one, worth $100, on the driveway while he went to buy parts to repair it for a friend. But sometime between 3 and 5 p.m., somebody took it.
