Stolen Car Crashed, Check Forgery Arrest: La Grange Police Blotter

TUESDAY, JAN. 29

Car Window Smashed

A resident of the 300 block of South Kensington Avenue reported at 6:06 p.m. that the rear window of her parked car was smashed sometime between 6:15 and 6:45 p.m. Police were unable to determine what may have broken the window; no projectile was located.

$500 Bank Fraud

A resident of the 500 block of Banyon Lane reported at 4:32 p.m. that her checking account was fraudulently compromised with a loss of $503. An unknown offender withdrew the sum.

MONDAY, JAN. 28

Alleged Forger Arrested 

Jasmine M. Thurman, 22, of the 200 block of Washington Avenue, was arrested at the La Grange Police Department at 3:36 p.m. She was charged with one count of forgery in a November 2012 incident during which a fraudulent check was presented at a local bank, police said.

Train Station Window Broken

A window of the La Grange Train Station was reported broken at 9:45 a.m. on the Hillgrove side of the La Grange Train Station at the corner of La Grange Road and Hillgrove Avenue.

Illegal Driver I

Jose Verde, 44, of the 2300 block of South 58th Court, Cicero, was stopped at the corner of Ogden and Kensington avenues at 8:22 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Graffiti on Ogden Bridge 

Graffiti was reported on the Ogden Avenue bridge (Sawyer Avenue and Finley Avenue) at 7:58 a.m. The graffiti was not gang-related.

SUNDAY, JAN 27

iPod Nano Stolen

A resident of the 200 block of Leitch Avenue reported at 3:14 p.m. that her iPod Nano was stolen from her unlocked car sometime during the day. She last saw the device in Western Springs. The value of the loss was estimated at $50.

SATURDAY, JAN. 26

DUI on East

John Z. Angelovich, 37, of the 200 block of West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, was stopped for erratic driving on the 5300 block of East Avenue at 2:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Stolen Car Crashed

A car avoiding a traffic stop by Brookfield Police crashed on the 200 block of Washington Avenue at 1:22 p.m. and a man fled eastbound from the scene, police said. The license plate of the car was reported stolen out of Brookfield. La Grange Police could not provide further information. Brookfield Police were not immediately available to discuss the incident.

Now Moose as Well?

The woman who had previously complained about having photos taken of her at BEDS returned to complain again at 9:48 a.m. She previously complained about a “loose bear;” now she talked about “bears and moose running wild.”

Missing Man Returns

A resident of the 200 block of Sawyer Avenue, previously reported missing on Jan. 22, advised the La Grange Police Department at 9:10 a.m. that he has returned home safely.

FRIDAY, JAN. 25

Payroll Check Theft 

A resident of the 0-100 block of Calendar Court reported a theft at 9:14 p.m. of a payroll check by a coworker who has not been heard from since. There was no loss to the resident because the check was cancelled.

Info Pays for TV

A resident of the 0-100 block of Stone Avenue reported at 4:02 p.m. that a person in Kansas had used his information and Social Security number to fraudulently open a Dish Network account with charges over $500. There was no loss to the victim because the charges were fraudulent.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 23

Theft from Adventist 

A Countryside resident reported that her ID and bank book were stolen from her purse while she was in La Grange Adventist Memorial Hospital sometime last week.

Illegal Driver II

Jantoya Royale Herman, 31, of the 800 block of North La Grange Road,  La Grange Park, was stopped at the corner of Ashland and Elmwood avenues at 8:33 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license, police said.
