Six Acts of Damage, Five Thefts Reported to La Grange Police

Here is a list of items taken from the La Grange police blotter.

Six acts of damage or vandalism were reported to La Grange police between June 24 and June 27.

A planter was tipped over on the 200 block of west Hillgrove Avenue and dirt spilled out, La Grange police learned at about 5:41 a.m. June 27. Public Works was notified.

A father and son from La Grange were riding their bicycles on the 200 block of west Hillgrove Avenue at about 4:34 p.m. June 26 when the son’s bike hit and broke a window. The building owner notified a board-up service and Public Works was called to clean up the glass.

A stop sign was found lying in the street at 54th Street and Waiola Avenue at about 9:15 a.m. June 26. A La Grange police officer put the post in the hole and Public Works was called to fasten it more securely.

La Grange police said someone entered Spring Avenue School, 1001 Spring Ave., overnight on June 25 and damaged the inside of the building. The extent of the damage was not reported.

A glass door on a building in the 100 block of east Burlington Avenue was broken overnight, police learned at about 8:2 a.m. June 24.

Someone wrote with shoe polish on the front and rear of a stop sign at Edgewood Lane and Birks Court, La Grange police learned at about 8:40 a.m. June 24. Public Works was called to remove the vandalism.

Thefts, break-ins reported

A resident of the 200 block of east Elm reported someone broke into a rented U-Haul trailer in the driveway between 11:30 p.m. June 26 and 8 a.m. June 27, but found nothing inside. The trailer was emptied before the break-in, police said. The trailer since was returned to the rental company.

A La Grange resident reported at about 5:26 p.m. June 26 his daughter’s cell phone was stolen out of her gym bag while she was at the Park District of La Grange center, 536 East Ave. Missing is a LG black flip phone.

Three teens on bicycles took beer from a gas station on the 5300 block of LaGrange Road in Countryside at about 9:23 p.m. June 25. Countryside police asked La Grange officers to look for the youths, but they could not locate them.

A Clarendon Hills woman reported June 26 that her iPhone had been stolen in Palmer Place, 56 S. LaGrange Rd.

A resident of the 100 block of Seventh Avenue reported at about 10:38 a.m. June 24 that  a vehicle was broken into overnight.

A construction sign was taken the night of June 24 at Spring Avenue School, 1001 Spring Ave., by three or four youths. They left in a dark vehicle, which the La Grange police tracked  down using license plate information.  The sign was recovered and youths were turned over to their parents for discipline.
