Resident's Letter From Indonesia Was Lottery Scam, Police Say

Here is a list of items taken from the La Grange/La Grange Park police blotter.

A La Grange woman who reported Sept. 29 that she received a letter from Indonesia saying she won money was the intended victim of a scam lottery, La Grange police said.

An officer told her not to respond and to shred the letter.

Harassment

A tall thin man was reported at about  5:32 p.m. Sept. 29 harassing parents in back of a building on the 200 block of Hillgrove Avenue where they were picking up their children. He last was seen going north on Ashland Avenue from Hillgrove.

A 68-year-old La Grange man was told to stay off McDonald’s property at 100 N. LaGrange Road, after he was seen walking through the drive-through lane and threatened an employee who told him to leave at about 12:25 p.m. Sept. 28.

Disconnect the Gas Hose

A driver of a Comcast truck pulled a hose off a gas pump at the Shell, 4701 Willow Springs Road, when he started to drive away with it still connected at about 12:47 p.m. Sept. 28, La Grange police said.  The pump does not appear to be damagedbut a boss from Shell was to come in a few days to check it out.

Reckless Driver Seen

A reckless driver of a gray Dodge Charger was reported at about 10:55 p.m. Sept. 29 going west on 47th Street and East Avenue, ignoring the stop sign and speeding. Police could not find the car.

Driver Gets 3 Tickets

Francisco Callego, 32, of Chicago was given a ticket for driving while his license is suspended or revoked and two other unidentified traffic violations when La Grange police stopped his car on the 500 block of south LaGrange Road at about 9:35 p.m. Sept. 29. Police did say the license plates on the Volkswagen he was driving are registered to a Ford vehicle.

Ignored Railroad Gates

Sean P. Lynch, 36, of Brookfield was given a local ordinance violation ticket after La Grange police said he went around lowered railroad gates at LaGrange Road and Burlington Avenue at about 12:36 a.m. Sept. 29.
