Reported to Police: Playstation Stolen; Theft at LTHS; Underage Drinking; Pit Bull Found

Here are items from the La Grange police blotter.

A laptop computer, Playstation 3 game station and clothing were stolen overnight out of a resident’s car parked in the 0-100 block of Bluff Avenue, La Grange police learned at about 8:37 a.m. Feb. 19.

A 16-year-old La Grange boy reported Feb. 19 that a cell phone was stolen Jan. 27 out of his hoodie that was laying on the floor in the fieldhouse at Lyons Township High School north campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave.

A Western Springs man told La Grange police that his daughter went to a gas station in La Grange on Feb. 18, prepaid for $30 in gasoline and then realized she put the money on the wrong pump. When she went inside the gas station to ask the clerk to correct it, the worker refused and said someone already had pumped $20 of the $30 in gas she had paid for. The father asked for advice and police said they gave it, but what they recommended was not in the police report. More information was not available.

La Grange police, responding to a call at about 7:47 p.m. Feb. 18 of underage drinking in an apartment in the 900 block of south LaGrange Road, turned over two teen boys to their guardians.

A Brookfield woman told La Grange police that her 3-year-old son was grabbed by another parent Feb. 17 in the Park District of La Grange, 536 East Ave. The woman filled out an incident report with the Park District who recommended she also contact police.

La Grange police received a report Feb. 18 of 25 to 35 kids hanging out in front of a home in the 500 block of south Seventh Avenue on Fridays and Saturdays.  

Someone who found a black-and-white boxer and pit bull mix dog on Drexel near Ogden Avenue came into the La Grange police station at about 3:11 p.m. Feb. 19 to see if the owner could be located. The dog did not have tags or a microchip. The person who found the dog was going to drive in the area to find the dog owner.  

Two males and a teenage boy were reported at about 5:28 p.m. Feb. 19 as  running  through the third-floor stairwell of the village parking garage, 80 S. Sixth Ave., by someone who thought it suspicious. A police officer found the three on the second floor and said they were “just messing around,” and sent them on their way.

Criminal damage was blamed for a window being broken out in a building in the 900 block of south LaGrange Road, police learned Feb. 19. The window was boarded up and the landlord was notified. The landlord said the building owner would take care of it Feb. 21. How the window was broken was not listed in the police report.

A man living in the 500 block of south Kensington Avenue told La Grange police at about 6:36 p.m. Feb. 18 that a man came to his door selling something, but would not say what he was selling. The possible solicitor last was seen running east on 48th Street from Kensington.  

A homeowner in the 300 block of Edgewood Lane told La Grange police at about 7:26 p.m. Feb. 18 that a solicitor was at her house and was rude to her. A police officer found the person, an 18-year-old man from Dyer, IN, at Elm and Edgewood, advised him of the village’s solicitation ordinance and sent him on his way. His boss also was advised of the incident.
