Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is April 26

South Cook County police departments taking part in program.

Saturday, April 26 is National Prescription Drug Takeback Day, and several area police departments are taking part by collecting unwanted prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sponsored by the DEA, the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

  • Countryside Police Dept., 5500 East Ave.
  • Summit Police Dept., 5810 S. Archer Road
  • Justice Police Dept., 7800 S. Archer Road
  • Hickory Hills Police Dept., 7945 W. 95th St.
  • Willow Springs Police Dept., 8255 Willow Springs Road
  • Riverside Police Dept., 31 Riverside Road

The DEA cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps — only pills and patches.
