Possible Craigslist Job Scam Reported

Church's copper gutters subject of apparent attempted theft, and more, in the La Grange police blotter.

A La Grange man reported at about 2:06 p.m. April 6 a possible scam regarding a job he applied for on Craigslist. The man said he was sent two fake $600 money orders and realized the job offer was a scam. No loss was reported. He will report the matter to the Federal Trade Commission and not have anything else to do with the job offer.

Copper gutters subject of attempted theft

Someone tried to steal the copper gutters from the northwest side of First Congregational Church, 100 S. Sixth Ave., on an unknown date, La Grange police learned at about 3:34 p.m. April 6.

Teens ride bikes into planters

Three teenage boys were warned and sent on their way after security at Lyons Township High School north campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave., said they were riding their bicycles into flower planters outside the school at about 6:51 p.m. April 7. The boys were from Western Springs, Brookfield and Riverside.

iPod turned in to police

A iPod that some girls had found was turned in at about 3:55 p.m. April 7 at the La Grange police station at the recommendation of a business owner in the 0-100 block of south  LaGrange Road. Police have the serial number but have not yet located the owner.

Guess lottery tickets weren’t winners

A La Grange man reported he found that someone put lottery tickets on the windshield of his vehicle parked at Hillgrove and Stone avenues at about 3:14 p.m. April 7. Police destroyed the tickets.

Woman drunk at McDonalds

A woman and two male juveniles were brought home to their La Grange residence after La Grange Park police found she was intoxicated in the McDonalds at 100 N. LaGrange Road at about 8:41 p.m. April 7.

Bike stolen out of hallway

A tenant of an apartment in the 0-100 block of west Burlington Avenue reported finding his blue Gary Fisher bicycle worth more than $300 had been stolen between 6 and 9:30 p.m. April 7. The tenant said he believes the bicycle was locked up in the hallway.

Fire alarm at medical building

The La Grange Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at about 7:25 p.n. April 7 in a medical building at 5201 S. Willow Springs Road.

License plate sticker found

La Grange police are trying to locate the owner, whose name they know, of a license plate sticker found at about 10:15 a.m. April 7 at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 1323 Community Memorial Drive.

Senior building tenants in argument

A man who is a resident of Windsor Place, 42 S. Ashland Ave., told La Grange police at about 7:22 a.m. April 6 that he is being threatened by another resident. No charges were placed.
