Police Nab Suspect in Cell Phone Robbery

Police said the man stole the phone from an acquaintance near the Park District of La Grange Community Center.

A 19-year-old man faces felony robbery charges after police said he took a cell phone from an acquaintance July 13 in La Grange.

Aaron Washington, of multiple addresses, was arrested Aug. 9 near the Park District of La Grange Community Center, around the same location where police said the crime occurred.

Washington left the area for a few weeks after the incident, police said. Officers arrested him upon his return.

“This was a case where the victim knew the suspect and it was merely a matter of time until police could locate and arrest the suspect,” Chief Michael Holub said in a statement.

Washington was being held as of Sunday in Cook County Jail on $90,000 bond.
