Police Warn Against April Fool's Joke

An Elgin woman called La Grange police at about 2:04 p.m. April 1 to report that her sister said someone was in her apartment in the 900 block of Eighth Avenue. The sister, 39, told police she was playing an April Fool’s joke on her sister. Police warned her that she would be arrested if she does that again. 

Old Bicycle

A blue Raleigh bicycle with two flat tires, a bent sprocket, rusted chain and missing pedal had been leaning up against a fire hydrant for two days in front of a home in the 400 block of east Maple Avenue before La Grange police were called April 2. Police disposed of the bicycle.

Cell Phone Lost

A Villa Park man reported April 2 that he lost his cell phone worth $400, first saying he put it on the bar of a restaurant on Calendar Avenue, then saying he was not sure where he lost it. 

Purse Returned to Woman

A purse that had been lost at a senior center by an 80-year-old woman was turned in to La Grange police while she was reporting the loss at about 5:05 p.m. April 2.

Window Egged

The window of a home in the 200 block of north Spring Avenue was reported at about 4:09 p.m. April 3 as having been hit with eggs. No permanent damage was reported.

Feces on Playground Equipment

A woman who was at Stone/Monroe Park with a child at about 12:36 p.m. April 3 reported finding feces on a slide. The Park District of La Grange was notified.

Fire Department Activity

The La Grange Fire Department responded at about 10:33 a.m. April 2 to an apartment in the 300 block of west Harris Avenue where water was reported coming out of an electrical outlet, and provided mutual alarm for a fire alarm in the 100 block of Homestead Road in La Grange Park at about 1:12 p.m. April 3.
