Police Blotter: Strange Kids in Pool; Unhappy Meal Customer and More

La Grange police reports, July 20-22

SUNDAY, JULY 22

Youngsters Use Stranger’s Pool

A resident of the 500 block of south Spring Avenue reported at about 7:20 p.m. that three children he did not know were in his pool and possibly damaging it.  Police found three youths who admitted uncovering the pool and using it twice. One of the boy’s parents knows the resident and will call him to see if there was any damage to the pool.

Man Down on Tennis Courts With Possible Heart Problem

A man was reported down with a possible heart problem on the tennis courts at Gilbert Park, Gilbert Avenue and 42n Street, at about 9:50 a.m. The 59-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.

SATURDAY, JULY 21

Three Face Drug-Related Charges

A 19-year-old La Grange resident and two juveniles were charged with possession of cannabis, less than 2.5 grams, along with possession of drug paraphernalia, a pipe, after they were arrested at Gordon Park, Ogden and Locust avenues, at about 4:52 p.m.

Wallet Lost; Credit Cards Used

A woman told police at about 4:29 p.m. that her wallet was stolen or lost in downtown La Grange, and credit cards that were inside had been used by someone else. Her driver’s license and $35 also were inside the wallet.

Vulgar Words Placed on School Playground

Vulgar words had been put on the school playground at 701 S. Seventh Ave., police were told at about 10:18 p.m. The report did not indicate what material was used to write the words.

Boy Suffers Possible Broken Arm at Baseball Fields

A 13-year-old boy with a possible broken arm was taken by ambulance from the baseball fields at Sedgwick Park, 49th Street and 10th Avenue, to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital at about 5:02 p.m.

Teens Hanging Out at Vacant House

Three teens were reported hanging out at a vacant house on the 100 block of Hayes Avenue at about 11:12 a.m. Police found three youths in the alley and told them to stay off the property.

FRIDAY, JULY 20

Happy Meal Price Makes Customer Angry

A customer who was in a dispute over a 19-cent difference in a Happy Meal price at McDonald's, 100 N. LaGrange Rd., at about 4:41 p.m. was gone when police arrived. He was wearing a white shirt and black shorts.

Hey, There’s a Fly in My Ice Cream

A La Grange business reported at about 12:29 p.m. that a man named Bob called to complain there had been a fly in his banana split. The owner told police this appears to be a scam.

Bike Stolen at Train Station

A men’s black Gary Fisher bicycle was stolen at the Stone Avenue train station, 625 Burlington Ave., between 7:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.
