Pizza Driver Reports Threat About His Driving

A Chicago man reported he was delivering pizzas to the La Grange Field Club, 1300 W. 47th St., at about 7:06 p.m. when a man in a blue Ford Escort pulled behind him and accused him of speeding and not using a turn signal. The man claimed to work for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, said he took a picture of the driver’s license plate and would “run it” to find out who he is. The man was about 5-foot-3 and weighed about 185 pounds.

La Grange Man Bit by Bat

A resident of the 400 block of south Blackstone Avenue told La Grange police at about 2:12 p.m. that he had been bitten by a bat inside his house. He refused police and ambulance aid and said he would go to his own doctor.

Girl Told to Come Inside Vehicle

A La Grange father told police at about 7:52 a.m. that a man inside a white, two-door Jeep approached his daughter at 48th Street and Sixth Avenue about 20 minutes earlier and told her to get inside. He said he had candy, movie tickets and a flat-screen television set. She did not obey. No further description of the man was available.

Animal Carcasses Reported at Elm Park

A small pile of animal carcasses was reported at Elm Park, Elm Avenue at Brainard,  at about 7:48 a.m. A police officer found the body of a rabbit and called Public Works to pick it up.

Resident’s Vehicle Damaged

A resident of the 900 block of Eighth Avenue reported that a vehicle had been damaged overnight while parked at the building.

Water Main Breaks

A water-main break was reported at 52nd Street and Catherine Avenue at about 4:39 a.m. Public Works was called.

Kids Hanging Around Damaged Playground

Youngsters were reported hanging around the Elm Park playground, , at about 9:05 p.m. An officer sent them away.  

Couple Taken to Hospital After Crash

A Naperville couple, ages 42 and 44, were taken by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital after their car was hit at Ogden and Brainard avenues at about 7:37 a.m. The other driver, a 16-year-old La Grange girl, was ticketed for failure to yield while turning left. She told police she was going west and was waiting to turn left, but she could not see any eastbound traffic in the curb lane because of a car stopped in the left lane. She turned left and her car was hit by an eastbound vehicle occupied by the Naperville couple.     

Both Drivers Ticketed After Crash

Both drivers were ticketed after their cars collided at 15 W. Calendar Ave. at about 6:14 p.m. Craig P. Behrendt, 56, of Indian Head Park was ticketed for failure to reduce his speed to avoid an accident. Edwynez Abarra of  Berkeley was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Police said the right rear of Behrendt’s 2006 Acura collided with the left middle of Abarra’s 2004 Infiniti.

Naperville Driver Ticketed

Ian Besinger, 25, of Naperville was ticketed for failure to reduce his speed to avoid an accident after the right front of his car hit the left rear of a Lyons woman’s car on 47th Street about 50 feet west of La Grange Road at about 5:17 p.m.
