Blotter: Stolen Items and Suspicious People

The following items are from Patch's reporting on the La Grange and La Grange Park police blotters.

Headphones Stolen

Two sets of headphones worth $600 were reported stolen Jan. 19 out of a house on the 100 block of south Waiola Avenue where the window was broken. Police suspect a relative took them.

Phone Stolen

A man reported Jan. 22 that his phone, worth less than $300, was stolen while he was at the Community Park District of La Grange at about 4 p.m.

Suspicious People

A business on the 0-100 block of south La Grange Road reported Jan. 19 that a man, about 6-foot-2 and wearing all black, came into their shop on Jan. 18 and left. The employee thought it odd and reported seeing that same man walk by the shop again on Jan. 19. The man was last seen on the 0-100 block of west Hillgrove Avenue, Police will keep a special watch on the shop.

A resident living near La Grange Road and Maple Avenue told police a man wearing a maroon jacket with a Nike symbol came to the door at about 4:31 p.m. Jan. 19 trying to sell firewood.  

Minor Water Main Break

A minor water main break was reported  at about 12:59 p.m. Jan 22 on the 500 block of Sunset Avenue.

Snow Plowed Into Street

A caller told police at about 7:44 a.m. on Jan. 21 that someone plowing the lot at the La Grange Historical Society, 444 S. La Grange Rd., pushed snow onto La Grange Road. Public Works was going to have the snow removed.

DUI Charge

La Grange police arrested Brandon J. Lee, 21, of Stickney at East and Maple avenues at about 1:58 a.m. Jan. 20 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Speeding Ticket

La Grange Park police issued three tickets to an Orland Park man who they said was driving south while going 53 mph in a 30-mph zone on the 900 block of north La Grange Road at about 11:47 p.m. on Jan. 18. Juan Munoz, 23, was ticketed for speeding, no valid driver’s license and no insurance. Munoz told police he was driving a 2005 Suzuki owned by his friend and did not know if he had insurance on the car.   

Eight in Vehicle Not Hurt

A 31-yeaer-old Justice man and seven relatives driving in a 2011 Toyota Sierra were not reported injured when it collided with an Orland Park woman’s 2010 Lexus at 47th Street and East Avenue at about 1:12 p.m. Jan. 19. That other driver was not hurt and no tickets were issued.   

Collision in Hospital Lot

Teresa L. Grant, 49, of Countryside was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle after La Grange police said her 1989 Toyota Supra collided with a La Grange Highlands woman’s 1999 Cadillac Deville in Lot A of Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital, 5101 Willow Springs Rd., at about 11:43 a.m. Jan. 18. No injuries were reported.
