MONDAY, JULY 23

Resident Loses $700 When Identity Stolen

A La Grange man had his identity stolen and his name used to open up an utility account by someone living in Chicago. He lost $700.

Earrings Stolen at Business

A pair of earrings worth less than $500 were reported as stolen the previous day from a business on west Calendar Avenue. The business had video surveillance.

Rake Falls Off Truck, Punctures Car Tire

A driver reported at about 8:29 a.m. that a rake fell off a landscaping truck and punctured her tire at Burlington Avenue and La Grange Road. Her flat tire was replaced with a spare and she continued on.

Woman Says Car Almost Hit Her

A woman reported a car almost hit her at LaGrange Road and Cossitt Avenue at about 11:32 a.m. and is driving recklessly. The car last was seen eastbound on Cossitt.

Driver Says License Plate Fell Off, She Didn’t Reattach It

A 40-year-old Chicago woman stopped by La Grange Park police at 31st Street and Maple Avenue at about 3:36 a.m. for not having a front license plate, told the officer that the plate fell off and she did not reattach it. Martha Castro was ticketed for no front plate and driving while her license is suspended.  

SUNDAY, JULY 22

Graffiti Widespread in La Grange Park

Five separate incidents of graffiti were reported at various locations throughout La Grange Park from July 20-22. Graffiti was seen on walls, fences, doors and Park District buildings, mostly north of 31st Street, along Barnsdale Road and the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad tracks, police said.

SATURDAY, JULY 21

Bed Frame Removed From Back Yard

A queen-sized bed frame with wheels was removed from the back yard of a home on the 1600 block of Finsbury, possibly by scavengers who thought it was scrap, La Grange Park police said. Its value was less than $500.

THURSDAY, JULY 19

Credit Cards, Cash Taken Out of Vehicle

Credit cards and cash were taken during the night out of a wallet left on the console of an unlocked vehicle parked on the 600 block of east 31st Street restaurant on the 0-100 block of west Burlington Ave., called La Grange police at about 8:43 a.m. after a man tried to get money refunded. The man—with dark slicked hair and wearing khaki shorts and a blue polo short—left on a bicycle before police arrived.
