Police Called When Man Wants Refund from Restaurant

A restaurant on the 0-100 block of west Burlington Ave., called La Grange police at about 8:43 a.m. after a man tried to get money refunded. The man—with dark slicked hair and wearing khaki shorts and a blue polo short—left on a bicycle before police arrived.

Library Patron Forgets Memory Stick

A 47-year-old La Grange woman told police at about 12:57 p.m. that she left a memory stick with personal information in a computer at the La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave., and when she returned, it was gone. She said resume information was on the memory stick.

TUESDAY, JULY 24

Mountain Bike Stolen at Stone Avenue Depot

A La Grange man reported at about 10:56 p.m. that his men’s orange, 26-inch mountain bike was missing from the Stone Avenue train station where he had left it locked.

Driver Injured When Vehicle Hits Parkway Tree

An 18-year-old La Grange girl was taken by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital after the Chevrolet Suburban she was driving struck a tree on the parkway on the 800 block of south Washington Avenue. Police did not indicate whether she was ticketed.

Owner Ticketed When Dogs Run Loose

A woman living on the 100 block of north Stone Avenue received a P ticket after three of her dogs were running loose at Stone and Bell avenues at about 4:05 p.m. One dog was found; two others were loose at that time.

Rainstorm Knocks Down Wires, Leaves Other Damage

  • A tree was down on wires behind a home on the 200 block of Leitch Avenue at about 6:45 a.m. ComEd was called.
  • ComEd also was called for two power lines down on a garage on the 1000 block of south Spring Avenue at about 7:02 a.m.
  • Someone was stuck in an elevator when power went out at about 6:53 a.m. in a medical building at 5201 Willow Springs Rd. The person was rescued.
  • Flashes of blue light and sparking on the roof of Spring Avenue School, 1001 S. Spring Ave. were reported at about 8:12 a.m.   
  • Wires were arcing on 52nd Street between Waiola and Spring avenues.
