Police Blotter: Couple Reported Having Sex in Park, Woman's Car Shot While in Maywood

La Grange and La Grange Park police reports, June 7-10.

SUNDAY, JUNE 10

Storage Yard Entered

A Chicago man was arrested at about 8:46 p.m. on June 10 after La Grange police said he entered a storage yard on the 600 block of east Elm Avenue. Tommie L. Carter, 33, of 5258 W. Ferdinand Ave., was charged with criminal trespass to property. A second man was released. After an alarm went off, police found a hole in a fence and two people inside the property.

Air Conditioner Stolen

After an apparent first attempt on June 7 in which a copper pipe was cut, a central air conditioning unit was reported stolen June 10 out of a vacant house on Washington Avenue.

Purse Forgotten, Stolen

A La Grange woman reported on June 10 that she set down her purse by her car on the 0-100 block of south Catherine Avenue and when she returned, it was gone. The pink Vera Bradley purse with Burberry wallet was worth $400. A check, credit, debit and gift cards were inside.

Bullet Shot Into Car

A La Grange woman told police at about 7:18 p.m. on June 9 that she had been driving in Maywood when she heard a loud bang, went home and found a bullet hole in her car. She went to Maywood police to report the incident.

No Sex in the Park

La Grange police, investigating a call at about 10:56 p.m. June 9, of two people having sex outside in Gordon Park, 31 E. Ogden Ave., said they could not find the couple.

Group on Treasure Hunt

Five people coming out from behind a building at the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad tracks and Shawmut Avenue at about 11:50 p.m. June 9 were found to be doing a treasure hunt, La Grange police said. The group was told not to cross the tracks illegally and to stay away from closed businesses nearby.

Panhandler ‘Aggressive’

A homeless man was panhandling aggressively at McDonalds, 100 N. La Grange Road at about 10:12 a.m. on June 9. He was found at Walgreens, advised and sent on his way.

Graffiti on Garage

‘Vulgar words’ were spray painted on a garage on the 300 block of south Park Avenue June 9.

FRIDAY, JUNE 8

No Loss in Scam Attempt

No loss was reported on June 8 in an attempted scam of an 88-year-old woman living on Waiola Avenue in which one person tries to distract a resident while another steals items from inside the home.

Bracelet Stolen

A Chicago woman reported June 8 that her bracelet was stolen May 24 while she was in a La Grange salon.

Bike Stolen

A La Grange resident’s men’s, 26-inch black-and-white Diamond Back bicycle was stolen at the Stone Avenue train station, 625 Burlington Ave., police learned at about 7:07 p.m. June 8.

Loud Group in Park

A large group of people was reported to police as being loud outside Sawyer Park at about 1:36 a.m. on June 8. A police officer told them of the park hours and sent them on their way.

THURSDAY, JUNE 7

Bicyclist Trying to Enter Homes

A man wearing a red shirt and riding a bicycle was reported going door to door at about 11:29 p.m. June 7 at La Grange Road and Maple Avenue and trying to enter homes. He last was seen riding west on Maple Avenue from La Grange Road.

Bike Stolen

A green bicycle with black seat was stolen from a bike rack at The Field Club, 1300 W. 47th St., where it had not been locked up, police learned at about 4:01 p.m. June 7.

Baricade Stolen

La Grange Public Works reported June 7 that a barricade with a stop sign had been stolen overnight at 49th Street and Kensington Avenue, the site of an accident the previous day .
