Police Arrest Disorderly, Drunk—Yet Apologetic—Man

Four days after arrest on four counts in La Grange Park, the Des Plaines man was reported drunk and unruly at a La Grange train station.

A Des Plaines man was arrested on four charges Saturday despite apologizing to La Grange Park police for allegedly yelling at and threatening two police officers, only to be found days later drunk and causing a disturbance in La Grange.

“I am truly sorry for being mean to you guys,” said Russell A. Jackson, 53, whose last known address was 7500 Elmhurst Road, to officers in the La Grange Park police station, 447 N. Catherine Ave., before he was charged Saturday with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and two counts of resisting a police officer. Jackson was released on a $1,000 I-bond and faces a 1:30 p.m. April 13 court date in the Maybrook 4th Municipal District courthouse in Maywood.

La Grange Park police received a call at about 7:02 a.m. March 5 of an unwanted subject at a home in the 400 block of Newberry Avenue. Police said they saw a man—Jackson—on the sidewalk in front of the home. Residents of the home said Jackson was intoxicated and belligerent.

After an officer asked Jackson what the problem was, Jackson made a derogatory comment about a woman in the home, saying she was causing (problems). After the officer asked Jackson for identification, Jackson took a Department of Veterans card from his wallet and threw it, striking the officer in the chest, police said. The officer asked Jackson to remove the card and to show a state identification card.

One woman living in the home told police that Jackson was not welcome. Another woman in the home, who is Jackson’s ex-wife, said Jackson had been drinking and that she wanted him to leave and would not take him anywhere.

When police asked Jackson to leave, he started yelling and screaming and said he would not go and threatened to kill them, police said. Jackson had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and glassy, bloodshot eyes, police said.

Asked again to leave, Jackson used a profanity and said, “I’ll ... kill ya,” police said. Police warned him to stop screaming but said Jackson raised his arms in an offensive manner toward officers.

Police said they told Jackson he was under arrest, but he resisted; he pushed and elbowed a sergeant and his right arm hit another officer before being handcuffed.

Four days later, La Grange police told Jackson to leave the La Grange Road Metra station. At about 5:50 a.m. March 9, Jackson was drunk and causing a disturbance, police said. An officer told him he was not welcome anymore at the train station since it was the second time he was drunk and causing a disturbance. Officers threatened Jackson with arrest if they catch him a third time, according to the police report.
