Pickup Truck Stolen in La Grange Park Recovered Next Day in Westchester

Here's a list of items taken from the La Grange/La Grange Park police blotter.

A white company-owned pickup truck, reported Aug. 1 as stolen from the driveway of a house on the 700 block of north Brainard Avenue, was recovered the next day in Westchester, according to La Grange Park police.

Nothing had been taken from the vehicle, and the keys were left in it when the thief or thieves abandoned it, police said.  The vehicle had been left unlocked in the La Grange Park driveway with the key inside  when it was stolen.

Someone, on Aug. 2, stole a vehicle left in the driveway on the 1500 block of Ostrander Avenue that had been unlocked with keys in it, police said.

On Aug. 2, an unlocked garage on that same 1500 block was entered through the service door and items were removed from the vehicle inside, police said. Items taken include about $10 in cash, and Target and Safeway gift cards.

Woman ‘scammed’ of tickets

A La Grange woman reported Aug. 4 that she had been scammed through Craigslist of $350 she had paid for tickets she had not received yet.

Marijuana arrest

An 18-year-old La Grange Park man was arrested at about 12:29 a.m. Aug. 4 at Kensington and Cossitt avenues for possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana, La Grange police said. His bail was $100 and he faces an Aug.  19 court date in the 5th Municipal District courthouse in Bridgeview.

Five bicycles stolen

An unlocked boys bicycle worth $105 and a dark brown garbage can, partially spray painted red, worth $25 were stolen at a home in the 800 block of Seventh Avenue, La Grange police learned at about 2:29 a.m. Aug. 5.

A copper men’s, 28-inch Rally bicycle locked by its front wheel at the LaGrange Road Metra station, 25 W. Burlington Ave., was stolen and the wheel left behind, it was reported at about 6:15 p.m. Aug. 4.

A men’s, silver, 21-inch Trek bicycle locked up at the Stone Avenue train station, 625 W. Burlington Ave., was reported stolen at 9:29 p.m. Aug. 3.

A green Dahon Boardwalk fold-up bicycle was stolen between 9 and 10:55 p.m. Aug. 3 at 60 S. LaGrange Road, police said. Its value was $400.

Someone entered an open garage on the 700 block of south Sixth Avenue, possibly on July 29, and took a bicycle from inside, it was reported to police Aug. 4

Youths throw rocks at window

Two youths threw rocks at a window of a building on the 0-100 block of Dover Avenue at about 7:05 p.m. Aug. 3, then fled, according to La Grange police.
