Pickup Truck Speeds Backwards Into Tree

Here is a list of items taken from the La Grange/La Grange Park police blotter.

A truck driver accelerated backward into a tree after he asked two girls if they wanted a ride at 47th Street and Waiola Avenue at about 11:12 p.m. Sept. 10.

After making the request of the 15-year-old girls, from La Grange and Western Springs, his red pickup truck went over the grass and caused minor damage to a tree, police said.  Further information was not available Sept. 19 from police, including whether the incident happened near Waiola Park.

A woman told police Sept. 18 that her car was backed into at Sixth and Maple avenues. When a driver and passenger got out of the other car, she felt intimidated and fled to the Baker’s Square restaurant where police were called at about 7:06 p.m.

An Indian Head Park woman reported Sept. 15 that her 2008 Honda Civic was hit at Poplar and Hillgrove avenues by a vehicle that fled.

Wanted on Warrant

Robert Szay, 27, of Hickory Hills was found to be wanted on warrants for disorderly conduct and failure to appear in court in downstate Coles County, which includes Charleston, when his car was stopped by La Grange police at 2 N. LaGrange Road at about 11:37 p.m. Sept. 17.

Two Tickets Issued

George S. Zacchone, 34, of Berkeley was ticketed for no driver’s license and one other unspecified traffic violation when stopped at La Grange Road and Elm Avenue at about 8:58 p.m. Sept. 17.

Another Egging

A driver reported his car being egged from a driveway on the 300 block of south Sixth Avenue at about 9:02 p.m. The home owner said one daughter was sleeping and another was at a sleepover, but kids use the driveway from which to throw eggs.

Bikes Stolen, Found

A bicycle was stolen within the past 10 days from a driveway of a home on the 100 block of Waiola Avenue, police learned Sept. 17. It was described as a men’s light blue and white racing-style bicycle that is 15 to 20 years old.

A bicycle was stolen from the La Grange train depot, 25 W. Burlington Ave., between Sept. 16 and 12:41 p.m. Sept. 17. Missing was a men’s Schwinn mountain bike that is silver and dark gray with rusted handlebars.

A men’s Raleigh purple or blue bicycle was found at 50th Street and Madison Avenue on Sept. 15.
