OMG PD: $1.5K in Gift Cards Stolen from Church, Drivers Throw Stuff

Gift Cards Stolen From Church

Someone stole $1,570 in various gift cards from a desk drawer at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in the 500 block of S. East Avenue. The theft occurred sometime between April 16 and April 23. 

Elderly Man Yells "Get in My Car" to Teen Girl

A man attempted to abduct a 14-year-old girl in Oak Park last week but drove away when she said no, police reported Wednesday.

The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. April 26 in the 800 block of Division. Police said the man honked at the Oak Park girl and waved to her, then passed a second time and yelled, "get into my car."

He drove southbound on Oak Park Avenue after the girl said no.

Police described the man as white, bald, between 70 and 75 with a wrinkled complexion and a "sloped" nose. He was wearing a tan jacket and drove a tan four-door car. 

LA GRANGE

Drivers Throw Cans, Unidentified Objects at Each Other

Two people were driving erratically and cutting each other off while traveling south on La Grange Road when one of them started throwing things at the other, police said. The man who eventually called police started throwing cans back at the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta while they were driving between 47thStreet and Plainfield Road around 12:14 p.m., police said. The driver of the Jetta got out of his car and hit the other man’s window but didn’t cause any damage. Police were unable to locate that driver.

WESTERN SPRINGS

Swim Club Pool Drains Broken

Someone broke into the Western Springs Service Club Pool, 1300 Hillgrove Ave., and damaged several drain gates sometime between 4 p.m. on April 27 and 9 a.m. on April 28. There was no water in the pool at the time of the incident, according to police reports. Damages are estimated at $8,000.
