Garbage Picker Chases Man With Vodka Bottle

Allan Gill, 43, of Kenosha, WI, was charged with aggravated assault around10:20 a.m. after he chased a man while swinging a bottle of vodka and threatening him, police said. 

The man told police he saw Gill going through his garbage in the 800 block of Des Plaines Avenue. Gill told the man he was looking for cans and when the man told him to stop, Gill took a large glass bottle and said, “I’ll teach you a lesson. Run … to the cemetery,” and started swinging the bottle. 

He was processed and given an Aug. 13 court date.

Arrestee Pees on Cell Floor

Police charged Kenneth Crump, 26, of Forest Park with battery and criminal defacement of property around 1:15 a.m. at Shortstop Lounge.

One of the bartenders told police Crump was asked to leave after he started yelling at other patrons, telling them he was going to batter them.

When in custody, police said Crump yelled at police and urinated on the detention cell floor and door. He was given a criminal trespass notice from the bar, one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, one for battery, one for defacement of property and a July 23 court date. 

Felony Charge for Electric Hair Clipper Theft

Police charged Vincent Ross, 53, of Chicago with felony retail theft around6:20 p.m. after he stole electric hair clippers at CVS, 7216 Circle Ave. in Forest Park, police said. Ross, currently on parole, was processed and given a June 6 court date.

Electronics, Protein and Creatine Stolen From Apartment

Someone stole two laptops, an iPod, a Vera Bradley backpack, textbooks, an Acer net book, headphones and bottles of creatine, protein and melatonin from an unlocked apartment in the 1000 block of North Harlem Avenue between 10 p.m. June 7 and 1 a.m. June 8. The total estimated loss is $2,610, police said.

Weed Whacker Theft

Someone used a screwdriver to break into the front porch area of a home in the 800 block of South Maple Avenue sometime between 9 p.m. June 7 and 9 a.m. June 8 and stole a weed whacker and a gas can. The total estimated loss and damage is $110, police said.

Table Saw, Torch Kit Stolen

Someone stole a table saw, a paint sprayer, a torch kit and a car stereo from a storage unit in the 100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue between 6 p.m. May 23 and 2 p.m. June 6. The total estimated loss is $1,350, police said.

Dine-and-Dash at TGI Fridays

Police charged Sheneice Maddox, 19, of Chicago with theft of services around 12:15 a.m. in the 400 block of North Harlem Avenue. Police said Maddox left T.G.I.Fridays without paying her $46 bill, then gave police a false name and birthday when they asked her about it. She was given aJuly 22 court date and released on bond.

Arrestee Can't Hold It

Police charged Ronald Sterling, 63, of Chicago with driving under the influence and driving with an expired registration around 1:40 a.m. in the 1100 block of Madison Street. Sterling told police he needed to pee during the stop and started to do so behind the car, police said. He was given a July 8 court date and released on bond.

Out-of-Control Customers

A waitress at Chequers said some customers screamed obscenities at her because their food didn’t come out quickly enough, police said. The customers called back and threatened to sue because they said she pushed one of them out of the restaurant. The officer said the offender is not known at this time.

Dad Gives Child Beer

A woman said her ex-husband gave their 9-year-old child beer June 1 at a party  somewhere on Brainard between Ogden and 47th in La Grange, police said. The father was not charged, but the incident was entered as a matter of record. 

Cockatoo Bites Woman's Ear on La Grange Road

A cockatoo bit a woman’s ear after a man placed the bird on her shoulder Monday evening on South La Grange Road near Cossitt Avenue, La Grange police said.

The woman had just gotten out of her car when the man approached her and transferred the bird from his own shoulder to hers, police said.

Paramedics were called because the cockatoo drew blood, but the woman declined to be treated, police said.

The man took off and had yet to be located as of Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Brookfield Man Arrested for Meat Theft

Police arrested Ariel Diaz, 50, of Brookfield for stealing from Jewel, 507 E. Woodlawn Ave. around 4 p.m. 

A Jewel employee told police he saw Diaz fill a basket with a lot of meat products, then transfer the meat into a reusable bag, cover it with a loaf of bread and a package of bagels and leave the store, police said. 

Diaz then ran across Sherwood Avenue and into Memorial Park when the employee tried to stop him, police said. 

When in custody, Diaz told police he went into Jewel to deposit a check at TCF Bank and decided to pick up some dinner for his family, but he didn’t pay because he knew the check he’d deposited wouldn’t clear for a couple of days, police said. He added he planned on freezing and eating a lot of the meat and selling some of it.

He was processed, given a criminal trespass notice from Jewel and a June 26 court date.
