Porta Potty Take Down, Possible Drug Deal, Fights and More: La Grange Police Blotter

La Grange police reports, Aug. 30-Sept. 4.

MONDAY, SEPT. 3

Drug Deal?

A caller told police that a possible drug deal might have occurred around 5:45 p.m. on the 1000 block of south Sixth Avenue. She described one of the people involved as a woman with brown hair who was wearing all black and left the area headed east on 52nd Street. A grey two-door vehicle was also said to be circling the area with two men in the car. Police were unable to locate anyone involved. The same resident called again at 6:37 p.m. to tell police the woman they saw was now at Plainfield Road and Sixth Avenue. Police located the woman, who lives in the area, and said no drug activity was found.

Fighting

Police got a report of a fight between a man’s sister and her boyfriend at 6:42 p.m. on the 300 block of Calendar Avenue. The man said both his sister and her boyfriend were intoxicated. Police reported that the argument was over money and one of the two individuals had already left the scene when they arrived.

Don't Play in the Street

Police got a call at 9:46 p.m. of three young girls, between 12 and 13 years old, who were sitting in the middle of the street at Waiola and Maple avenues. Police found all three girls to be all right and said they were sitting on the sidewalk.

It's Time to Go

Staff at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital called police at about 9:55 p.m. and said a man who had been discharged from the ER would not leave. Police took the man to the train station.

Lock Broken

Police advised the BNSF Railroad that the lock on the door of the Stone Avenue Station Depot was broken and could not be locked at about 8:10 a.m.

Fireworks, Not Gunshots

A caller told police they heard possible gunshots near Sedgewick Park at 9:55 a.m. Police said it was fireworks.

Ambulance Called, Man OK

An ambulance was called to check on a man who had fallen while at the Lyons Township High School running track at North Campus. The man was up and breathing, but the caller requested police check him out to be safe at about 11:14 a.m.

Window Smashed

A caller on the 100 block of south La Grange Road told police at 1:05 p.m. that someone had smashed the passenger side window of her car within the past hour.

Help a Department Out

La Grange police assisted Brookfield police on a call about a large fight in progress at about 1:48 a.m. on the 4600 block of DuBois Avenue in Brookfield.

Suspended License

Adalberto Campos-Miramontes, 40, of the 8600 block of Lakeside Street in Lisle, was arrested and issued two citations for driving with a suspended or revoked license at 2:32 a.m. at Ogden and Stone avenues.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 2

Porta Potty Take Down

A caller told police at 7:01 p.m. that a group of kids was trying to knock over a Porta Potty in Sedgwick Park. Police drove by and saw no kids. The Porta Potties were upright.

Suspicious Person with Camera Phone

A caller told police at 12:07 p.m. that a man was on the 100 block of Ninth Avenue taking pictures of a home with his camera phone. The caller advised police that the owners of the home were on vacation. Police checked the area but did not find anyone matching the description given by the caller. The caller was told to call again if the man returned.

Drunken Man Threatened

A caller told police that he was being threatened by patrons at Wild Monk on the 0-100 block of La Grange Road. Police noted the man sounded highly intoxicated. Police spoke with the owner at Wild Monk and learned the caller was highly intoxicated and was bothering other patrons in the bar. The caller left before police arrived.

No Valid Driver's License

Victor Hugo Mendez-Marin, 35, of the 8900 block of Burlington Avenue in Brookfield, was arrested and issued three citations at about 2:55 a.m. at 52nd Street and Sixth Avenue for driving and having no valid driver's license.

Fight at Brixies

La Grange police assisted Brookfield police with a call about a fight at Brixies in Brookfield at 3:20 a.m. Both parties involved in the fight had already left when police arrived.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 1

Solicitors Reported

A man and a woman who were soliciting for the Chicago Tribune on the 800 block of Ninth Avenue were told to stop at 3:11 p.m. Officers spoke with the two who said they would get picked up and stop for the day.

Two other solicitors, for IGS Energy, were told to stop soliciting at 4:31 p.m. on the 200 block of Seventh Avenue. They also were going to be picked up by their boss.

Resident Smells a Blunt

A caller told police at 5:58 a.m. on the 300 block of Plainfield Road that she smelled what she believed to be a 'blunt,’ a slang term for a marijuana filled cigar wrapper, coming from a possible party on the first floor of her building. Police reported that the subjects were smoking scented/flavored tobacco.

THURSDAY, AUG. 31

Stray Dog Returned

A stray dog that was found in downtown La Grange at 11:08 p.m. was scanned for a chip and the owner, who lives in La Grange Park, was notified.

Campaign Sign Stolen

A resident of the 300 block of south La Grange Road told police at 8:21 a.m. that someone stole an Obama/Biden sign from her front lawn.

Suspicious People Emerge From Woods

A caller reported suspicious behavior to police at 1:08 p.m. at Beacon and Hillgrove avenues. The caller told police a man and a woman had appeared from the woods carrying a large duffle bag and then turned around. Police spoke with both people, and they were sent on their way to stay at a motel.

Lost on the Way to Brixies

Police got a call about suspicious activity at 12:58 a.m. at the Ogden Avenue Bridge. An officer spoke with three people there who said they got lost on their way to Brixies.

Man Found Face Down

A man was transported by ambulance to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital after a caller told police there was a man lying face down on the parkway on the south side of Maple Avenue between Spring and Kensington avenues. No other information was available from police reports.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 30

Maintenance Worker Threatening

A caller told police at 7:41 a.m. that a maintenance worker working in his building on the 300 block of Bluff Avenue pounded on his door and then pushed him. An officer reported it was a verbal argument over the maintenance of the building.

Man Peering in Cars

Police were unable to locate a man who was reported to be peering into cars at Elm and Edgewood avenues at 7:42 a.m.
