Police say a 27-year-old Buffalo Grove man set a La Grange Park record Tuesday night—but it’s a regrettable one.
Radar clocked Akhmat Lepshokov traveling 103 mph on a motorcycle, which is the highest speed ever recorded by La Grange Park police, Chief Dan McCollum said in a statement.
“There have been some in the 90 mph range over the past 20 years, but this one appears to be the highest,” McCollum said.
Lepshokov, of the 0-99 block of Oak Creek Drive in Buffalo Grove, was driving through a 30 mph zone on La Grange Road at the time police stopped him, according to the release.
He told police he was taking the motorcycle—a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000 Café Racer model—out for a test drive.
That test drive could end up costing him. If Lepshokov is found guilty of speeding more than 40 mph over the limit, he could face up to 364 days in jail and a $2,500 fine.
