Men Drive Van Slowly Down Street, Jump In and Out of Rear Door

La Grange police take names of 3 suspicious men looking at bike locked in bike rack.

La Grange police are investigating a call of a light blue van driving slowly southbound in the 0-100 block of Gilbert Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. May 14 with one or two men running out of an open rear door and up to houses. It did not appear they were delivering fliers, according to La Grange police. Two other men were in the vehicle.

Three looking at locked bike

La Grange police took the names of three men seen looking at a bicycle locked in a bike rack at the LaGrange Road station of the Metra commuter train line at about 9:23 a.m. May 13. They told an officer the locked bicycle belonged to one of them, but he did not remember the combination. The men were a 42-year-old from Chicago, 37-year-old from Brookfield and 55-year-old from Hodgkins.

Man protests at hospital

A bald man holding an obscene sign about Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital was reported standing in the middle of traffic and causing a scene in front of the hospital, 5101 Willow Springs Road, at about 5:59 p.m. May 13. The man had an issue with the hospital but promised a police officer he would stay on the sidewalk while he held the sign. Attempts were unsuccessful to contact the man to ask about his issue.

Wallet, briefcase stolen

A Lisle woman reported May 14 her wallet was stolen while she was in LUV Nails, 17 S. LaGrange Road, and her credit cards subsequently used.

A 46-year-old La Grange man told police he left his soft-sided, black-leather briefcase at the Stone Avenue station of the Metra commuter train line at about 11:15 p.m. May 13 and when he returned, it was gone. Inside were his work identification, checkbook and bank statement.

La Grange man hit in Villa Park

A 48-year-old La Grange man was taken at about 8:13 p.m. May 15 to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital after telling police his 52-year-old roommate battered him in Villa Park. He will contact Villa Park police about possible charges when he leaves the hospital.

Fallen branch blocks road

A large tree branch was found blocking the entire road at Bell and Bassford avenues at about 3:34 a.m. May 14. Police officers said they could not move the branch. Public Works was notified.

Two dogs found

A shepherd mix dog was found at Ashland and Cossitt avenues at about 11:31 a.m. May 14. The dog had a microchip implanted; police contacted the La Grange owner but the finder will hold onto the dog until the owner picks it up.

A small black-and-white Spaniel dog was found at about 11:45 a.m.  May 15 on the 300 block of Blackstone Avenue and turned over to its owner, who lives two blocks away.

Three taken to hospital

A 91-year-old woman who was unresponsive and shaking in church, 124 N. Spring Ave., at about 5:39 p.m. May 14 was taken to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.

A man in his 20s or 30s asked employees at Borders, 1 N. LaGrange Road, to call an ambulance for him at about 12:23 p.m. May 15. He was taken to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. 

A 22-year-old man in the AT&T store, 34 N. LaGrange Road, reported he was having chest pains and suffers from asthma at about 8:53 a.m. May 14. He was taken to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.

Kid complaint

A woman called La Grange police at about 7:55 p.m. May 15 to complain that two teenage boys have been playing ball in the street at Burlington and Spring avenues and screaming at each other for the last hour. An officer  said the two were playing catch and were asked to keep it down.

Three ticketed for no licenses

A 16-year-old girl was ticketed for no driver’s license and two unidentified traffic violations when La Grange police stopped the car she was driving at Brainard and Ogden avenues at about 7:03 p.m. May 14. Her hometown was not given.

Alberto Rodriguez, 20, of Waukegan was ticketed for no driver’s license and two other unidentified traffic violations after his car collided with another vehicle at 47th Street and East Avenue at about 4:28 p.m. May 14. One vehicle was towed.

Bryan O. Wheeler, 40, of La Grange was ticketed for no driver’s license and two other unidentified traffic violations  at 47th Street and Eighth Avenue at about 12:33 a.m. May 14, according to a La Grange police shift report.
