Men Cut Through Yard, Phone Lines Cut; Is There a Connection?

A man living on the 800 block of Brighton Lane told La Grange police at about 3:34 p.m. May 24 he noticed that his telephone lines were cut after he saw two men cutting through his yard at about 10:25 a.m.  AT&T told the man and police that none of its employees were scheduled to work in the area that day. The men were in the 40s, heavyset and wore green vests. They had entered his yard from a home on the 800 block of Edgewood Avenue.

Suspicious man stopped twice

A 32-year-old La Grange man whom police said was shooed away from sleeping on a bench in front of  Trader Joe’s, at about 10:56 p.m. May 24 was stopped at 5:39 the next morning after he was believed to be looking into an open garage on the 600 block of north Ashland Avenue.  The man was stopped at Ashland and Elm avenues.

Man taken to hospital

A 48-year-old man was taken at about 8:20 a.m. May 23 to Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital by La Grange Fire Department ambulance from the 7-Eleven, 9600A W. Ogden Ave., where he was reported having trouble breathing.

Woman screaming reported

Residents of a home on the 900 block of Sixth Avenue told La Grange police they were woken up at about 1:56 a.m. May 24 by two loud screams, apparently from a female. Police could not locate the female.

Dancing in the street

Two women were reported to be blocking cars from passing while they were dancing in the street at 51st Street and Madison Avenue at about 5:21 p.m.  May 24. A police officer talked to the two about playing in the street and sent them on their way.

Cat found

A buff-colored, short-haired male cat found May 24 in the 0-100 block of Sawyer Avenue by a resident was turned over to the Hinsdale Humane Society. The cat had an implanted identification microchip, La Grange police said.

Bus ‘ignores’ railroad lights

A man called La Grange police at about 7:46 a.m. May 23 to report a Pace bus driver crossed the Burlington Northern railroad tracks at Ashland Avenue 14 minutes earlier when the crossing lights were flashing and a train was coming. Police contacted Pace and said they will follow up.
