Marijuana Possession, DUI, 2 Warrant Arrests: Police Blotter

Saturday, April 13

Suspended license

Vera M. Hill, 50, of the 400 block of Beach in La Grange Park, was arrested around 6:24 p.m. in the 600 block of Beach, La Grange Park police said. She was charged with driving with a suspended license and not displaying front registration.

No valid license

Daniel Diaz-Cervantes, 25, of the 10200 block of Belden in Melrose Park, was arrested around 9:05 p.m. in the 1200 block of North La Grange Road, police said. He was charged with driving without a valid license and cited for speeding.

Warrant arrest

Dustin C. Mullins, 28, of the 3800 block of Cleveland in Brookfield, was arrested on a retail theft warrant around 5:13 a.m. at the La Grange Park Police Department, police said. Bail was set at $15,000.

Sunday, April 7

Warrant arrest

Robert P. Johnson, 44, of the 600 block of North La Grange Road in La Grange Park, was arrested on a warrant around 7:35 p.m. at the La Grange Park Police Department, police said. The warrant was issued out of Kendall County. Johnson posted $300 bond and was released.

Marijuana possession

Thalia Laboy, 19, of the 9800 block of South Ewing in Chicago, was arrested around 12:36 a.m. in the 500 block of 30th Street, police said. An officer said he approached a car parked in a lot that had beer cans strewn around it. A strong odor of marijuana came from the car when he spoke with the driver, he said. Laboy said she had been smoking earlier but did not have any marijuana left. The officer said he saw a half-empty case of Bud Light in the back seat and an open can of beer in the front passenger seat area. He searched the car and said he found a partially smoked blunt on the driver’s side floor mat, as well as three small plastic baggies containing what looked like marijuana. There was also drug paraphernalia in the car and Laboy’s purse, police said. Laboy said that no one else in the car had smoked marijuana and that all the paraphernalia was hers, police said. She was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Saturday, April 6

DUI on La Grange Road

Victor J. Norbut, 64, of the 900 block of Community in La Grange Park, was arrested around 4:44 p.m. in the 400 block of La Grange Road, police said. Officers arrived at the scene of a car accident and found Norbut trying to engage the gearshift on the steering column, police said. They asked him if he was injured or fine, and he said, “Yes, I am fine, I got cut off.” The officer told Norbut that he smelled alcohol on his breath, and Norbut replied, “I had a couple.” Norbut failed three field sobriety tests and his blood alcohol content came in at .159 on a Breathalyzer, police said. He was charged with DUI, alcohol concentration in breath over .08, improper lane usage and no proof of insurance.
