MONDAY, AUG. 27

Loud Talkers

Two people who were talking loudly in Sawyer Park were sent on their way by police at about 10:45 p.m.

False Alarm

A caller told police at 2:03 a.m. that her home alarm had sounded and it appeared someone had tried to break in through the back door of the home. The caller requested an officer come out to check on the home, but did not want to talk with police or leave information. Police searched the rear of the home and did not see any footprints from wet grass near the back door.

Smoking Weed?

Police got a report of a blue Chevy car on the 400 block of East Avenue. The caller said it had been occupied multiple times that day and the caller believed the occupants were smoking marijuana. Police drove by and said nothing was going on in the vehicle at that time.

Argument, Couple Gone When Police Arrive

Police got a report at 7:13 p.m. of an ongoing domestic fight going on between two people at Lincoln and Sawyer avenues. The caller told police he heard the woman say she was going to call police. Police searched the area, but no one was there.

Police Check on Woman

Police were called at about 10:17 p.m. to check on a woman who was reported to be talking to her shoe in downtown La Grange. Police located the woman, who is homeless and said she was fine and just looking for a friend.

Hit and Run

A woman on the 500 block of south Ashland Avenue reported to police at 10:45 a.m. that her car was hit during the night. She said she believed she knew who did it.

Situation Escalates

A resident came to the lobby of the police station to report a domestic issue. The woman told police that she had gone to her husband’s home in La Grange Park and got into an argument with him. The woman and her daughter then drove off, but were followed by her husband’s girlfriend who hit the rear of their car, causing minor damage. The woman wanted it noted as a matter of record only.

Stuck in an Elevator

Police received a call about a someone possibly being stuck in an elevator on the 0-100 block of south Ashland Avenue at 1:14 p.m. Police called the fire department after determining that someone was stuck after all. That person was able to squeeze out the doors and the request to the fire department was canceled. The elevator company was notified.

Man Lurking by Stalls

Police got a report at 1:16 p.m. that a man was lurking by the stalls in the women’s restroom on Aug. 24 at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital. The man was reported to have done this six or seven other times, but was not there when the caller called. Police spoke with the caller who said she had learned from someone else that there was a man in the stall on Aug. 25 as well. There was no description of the suspect and police suggested keeping the door locked and told them to call security if it happened again.

SUNDAY, AUG. 26

Lost Purse

Police were told at 1:18 p.m. that a woman’s 11-year-old daughter had lost her purse, described as pink with flowers on it, at Pier One the night before. The purse contained an iPhone and $142. They had already called Pier One, and an employee said they did not have it. They told police they would contact the phone company to track the phone.

Driver Stuck Under Bridge

A driver told police that he was stuck in water under the Ogden Avenue bridge at about 10:45 p.m. Police called the man a tow truck. Two other vehicles were also reported to be stuck at 7:49 p.m. and 8:12 p.m. Barricades were placed under the viaduct by the public works department.

Suspicious Man Just Practicing Tai Chi

A man was reported at 11:40 p.m. to be hanging out by the back door of Prasino for about 45 minutes prior to the call. Police talked with the man who said he was practicing his tai chi.

Man Crying

Police were asked to check on a man at 6:16 p.m. at 49th Street and Ashland Avenue who was on the ground crying for his father. The subject ran west on 49th street when he was approached. Police said they could not find the man.
