Man Attempts Suicide in La Grange Park Lockup

A 36-year-old La Grange Park man attempted suicide while being held in a cell at the La Grange Park Police Department on Monday night.

A 36-year-old La Grange Park man attempted suicide at about 7 p.m. on Monday night while being held on domestic battery charges at the .

Police said in a statement today that the man attempted suicide by hanging himself with a bed sheet tied to a heat sensor in the ceiling of the cell. He was found during a regular cell inspection by one of the department's supervisors.

Police said the man was immediately rescued and evaluated by paramedics before being transported to Hinsdale Hospital in good condition. The man remains hospitalized for a mental health evaluation.
