Man Accused of Trying to Steal Allergy Medicine, Cosmetics at Jewel-Osco

The following items are from Patch's reporting of the La Grange Park police blotter.

A Lyons man was arrested March 1 after La Grange Park police said he tried to steal $365.58 worth  of allergy medicine and cosmetics at the Jewel-Osco, 507 E. Woodlawn.

Jeffrey D. Doran, 29, of 7223 W. 38th Place was arrested for retail theft and had also been wanted on an outstanding bond forfeiture warrant for $50,000, La Grange Park police said.

Store employees told police Doran walked to the over-the-counter medicine area at about 3:16 p.m. with a shopping cart that had a white canvas bag inside. They said he began to take items off the shelves and put them inside the bag. The items were eight packages of Zyrtec allergy medicine; five packages of Olay moisturizer; two of Olay anti-aging cream; and three of Equaline regeneration night face cream.

Police said he took the bag out of the cart and walked toward the front door, around the cash register; past the last point of purchase and toward the exit where he lifted the bag over the security sensor and left. The store said has it security surveillance video the incident.

He was stopped outside and told police he was approached and knocked down  by store employees. Doran had minor abrasions to his right palm and left knee, but refused medical attention, seeking a Band-Aid at the police station for a hurt area.

‘Speeder’ Ticketed

A Bellwood man received two traffic tickets after La Grange Park police said they saw his northbound silver 2005 Buick Lacrosse going 46 mph in a 30-mph zone on the 500 block of north La Grange Road at about 2:21 a.m. March 2. Chauncey D. Henry, 42, was ticketed for speeding and no valid driver’s license (expired more than one year). His court date is April 11.

Car Has One Working Headlight

La Grange Park police stopped a white 2000 Nissan Maxima they said had only one working headlight while it was heading north on the 500 block of north La Grange Road at about 1:47 a.m. March 2. The driver, Adrian Flores-Casrejon, 29, of Chicago was ticketed for one headlight and driving while his licenses is suspended. His court date is April 11.
