Three Charged in Chevy Theft: La Grange Police Blotter

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 2

Cossitt Hit-and-Run

A resident reported a hit-and-run accident that occurred on the 100 block of West Cossitt Avenue at 7:45 p.m. No crash report was available.

Illegal Driver I

Antrice M. Finch, 22, of the 10100 block of Hartford Court, Schiller Park, was stopped at the corner of Ogden and Blanchan avenues in Brookfield at 10:18 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license, police said.

TUESDAY, JAN. 1

Men, Teen Charged in Car Theft

La Grange police recovered a 2013 Chevrolet car from the Sedgwick Park parking lot at 11:41 p.m. that had been reported as stolen in Chicago earlier in the day, police said. David D. Kornegay, 20, of the 6800 block of South Winchester Avenue, Chicago, and Victor F. Pipes, 22, of the 9200 block of South Throop Avenue, Chicago, were each charged with criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and possession of cannabis, and issued a citation for violation of park hours, police said. Pipes was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A 16-year-old Chicago boy who was with the men was charged as a juvenile with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of cannabis, and cited for violation of park hours.

Illegal Driver II

Peggy Johnson, 39, of the 1300 block of Balmoral Avenue, Westchester, was arrested by the Chicago Police Department at 9:24 p.m. on an outstanding La Grange Police Department warrant for driving with a suspended license, police said.

Parking Garage Graffiti

Police reported at 8:37 a.m. that the lobby of the La Grange parking garage at 80 6th Avenue had been vandalized with spray paint and stickers. The vandalism included profanity and the word “merp.”

MONDAY, DEC. 31

Car Window Smashed

A complainant on the 900 block of 8th Avenue reported at 2:38 a.m. that the window of a neighbor’s car had been smashed. The cost of replacement was not estimated.

SUNDAY, DEC. 30

House Egged

A resident on the 1300 block of Mason Drive reported at 9:53 p.m. that his house had been egged. No permanent damage was done to the home.

Illegal Driver III

A 17-year-old Chicago boy was stopped at the corner of Ogden and Dubois avenues in Brookfield at 12:02 a.m. and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.

SATURDAY, DEC. 29

Laundry Machines Rigged

A resident from the 900 block of 8th Avenue reported to police at 10:03 a.m. that the Village Venice laundry machines had been being rigged to avoid coin payments. Police said that a follow-up established that several coin-operated machines had been tampered with and have subsequently been repaired.

DUI on La Grange

Krystyna Sikorski, 48, of the 5900 block of South Kedvale Avenue, Chicago, was stopped at the corner of Goodman Avenue and La Grange Road at 2:24 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Teen Arrested on Warrant

La Grange police assisted Brookfield in the arrest of a 16-year-old La Grange boy on a battery warrant at 12:21 a.m. The boy was on house arrest and police said they suspect he stole $500 from his sister on the 300 block of East Avenue before fleeing around 1:58 p.m. on Friday.

FRIDAY, DEC. 28

Radio Shack Graffiti

Graffiti was reported on the side of the La Grange Radio Shack on the 500 block of S. La Grange Road at 2:15 a.m. Police said it is not gang-related graffiti.

THURSDAY, DEC. 27

Mailbox Baseball

A complainant advised at 8:01 p.m. that someone in a gold Saturn four-door drove down the 700 block of Mason Drive and hit all of the mailboxes with a baseball bat, then headed toward Carriage Lane. At least one mailbox on the 1200 block of Carriage Lane was also damaged. The damage to the Carriage Lane mailbox was estimated at $100.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 26

Graffiti on Ogden

“Some symbols” of graffiti were reported on the north side of a building and playground on the 500 block of West Ogden Avenue at 6:05 p.m.

Stolen Wallet

A complainant reported at 3:28 p.m. that during the last hour, her wallet had been possibly stolen from Corner Bakery on the 0-100 block of North La Grange Road. The value of the theft was $300. (LGPD detectives are reminding residents to be careful with their valuables in downtown businesses.)

And More Graffiti

Miscellaneous graffiti, including the word “gang,” was reported at 7:58 a.m. on the west side of the Stone Avenue train station.
