LT Student Caught With Pot at Homecoming Dance

In other recent Western Springs police reports, a La Grange teen was cited for underage drinking.

SUNDAY, OCT. 13

Pipe Found During Traffic Stop

Edward E. Nighswander, 22, of the 2300 block of North Leavitt Avenue, Chicago, was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, police said, after a glass pipe was found in one of his pockets during a traffic stop for operating a vehicle with suspended registration plates near the intersection of Hillgrove and Gilbert avenues at 4:52 a.m.

Nighswander was also cited for driving with a suspended vehicle registration and driving without insurance. He was released on his own recognizance.

SATURDAY, OCT. 12

Homecoming Pot Possession 

A 16-year-old male juvenile from Countryside was cited for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia, police said, after he was found to have a pipe and a small amount of green, leafy substance suspected to be cannabis at the Lyons Township Homecoming Dance at 8:10 p.m.

He was released to a parent on his own recognizance.

Underage Drinking

Benjamin E. Wilson, 18, of the 1300 block of Walnut Street, Western Springs, and a 17-year-old male juvenile from La Grange were cited for illegal consumption of alcohol, police said, after an officer approached the pair while they were standing and acting suspiciously at the corner of Grand Avenue and Park Place at 10:25 p.m. and determined they had consumed alcohol earlier. 

Both were released on their own recognizance.

FRIDAY, OCT. 11

DUI

Kenneth E. Norkus, 38, of the 1800 block of Trevino Circle, Bolingbrook, was charged with DUI after he was observed to be under the influence of alcohol during a speeding stop near the intersection of I-294 and Ogden Avenue at 1:48 a.m., and refused ensuing sobriety tests. 

Norkus was cited for driving without insurance and without a license on him in addition to DUI and speeding.
